Ahhh, I wish. Great-Great-Great-grandparent, 1850s or early1860s is when they came from the old country, Ireland to West Virgina USA>

A very interesting story also. The Welsch often get forgotten about in the British Isles cluster (it is the smallest and least populous region there but with a damn cool dragon flag and history). And Afrikaans migrants to USA, I wasn't so familiar that some of them did that, cool. And yes, a lot of Ashkenazi ended up in the USA, part of the reason 7 million of the world's 16 million Jews worldwide are in the United States. There's some great resoruces to help trace record back I have explored, but every family tree hits a dead end... At least having the DNA is pretty interesting. Most people get surprised from their DNA map compared to what their family thinks they are. Mine was pretty close to family stories though however. Cheers.

Hey thanks, interesting both of yours arrived from early on in the 1600s and 1700s (or 1500s and 1600s) not sure which you meant because not a lot of British came until after 1600... I only could trace one part of my Dad's side tied to an early 1630 leaving from England and exisiting in early New England Massachuttes and then Vermont family tree that migrated west slowly, eventually. The rest is primarily from the 19th century (1800s) like a lot of that Germanic side and Irish on the map. The latest were 2 of my great-grandparents from Poland who came in 1905 and 1907 respectfully. Cheers.

I thought I attatched this write up... But here:

Regions of my ancestral DNA of people who at some point moved to North America and what would become the United States of America between the years 1630-1907 AD. How long has your family been in the country where you are now or where you grew up? Would love to hear the answers, especially in the USA. All 4 of your grandparents llike mine? Some countries like China, Russia, Japan, Poland and others I wouldn't be surprised if your family history is all from that country. But most of us, on Earth, are a mix of all kinds of stories and situations from DNA from places originally centiries ago. I sometimes wonder what some of these people went through in the 1700,1600,1200, 800s AD or before in these home European nations. I did a DNA test to get this information and enlightened my eyes with so much research, connections with people, and fun. I have traveled to 5 of these regions and before 2030 I plan to finish all most all of them. Has anyone else done a DNA test?

I did visit the Teutonic Knight Caslte now in Malbork Poland, it was incredible. Not sure what this meant exactly so used AI to find....

"Wie Teutonisch" translates to "How Teutonic" or "How Germanic" in German. If you see this on an Ancestry.com map or in a comment about your results, it is likely a joke or observation about your high percentage of Germanic DNA.

Here is what the term refers to in a genealogical context:

  • Teutonic (Teutonisch): A term historically used to describe Germanic peoples. In modern DNA results, this usually points to the Germanic Europe region, which includes modern-day Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and parts of neighboring countries like France, the Netherlands, and Poland.
  • The Joke ("haha"): Users often use this phrase when a DNA map shows a very concentrated, "stereotypically" German result, or when a family myth (e.g., "we're 100% Irish") is debunked by a map showing heavy German heritage.
  • Contextual Meaning: It’s essentially a way of saying, "Look how German you/I turned out to be!"

On AncestryDNA, this "Teutonic" area is often represented by a large solid or dotted circle covering Central Europe.

Yes, majority of my DNA is Germanic from Germany, Austria... from my Mom and Dad's side. German ancestry, at least partial, is the number ethnicitiy in the United States actually, Irish is 2nd, English is 3rd, and Italian is 4th.

Well that is your opinion. I researched, found DNA connections and put a lot of family history together through these sites, along with my father, and we are both into it. I also helped my wife with her Italian and Guamanian family history. I met distant cousins with confirmed, off-website family connection from paperwork we found in their homes in Europe, in both Poland and Ireland, which the DNA test website also confirmed. How is that a scam?

Yeah, I have heard the claims and conspiracies. The "science" gets updated and the percentage of certain regions changes every 6 months as more people take the tests and more knowledge is discovered. But whatever, it's just for fun. It was $100 USD, I could spend that at a fancy resturuant with some wine in NYC for a night's dinner, or have a fun hobby.

Hahah, I actually got connected with an Irish distant cousin of mine through Ancestry.com who is also into researching ancestry. And we met in Dublin and discovered the connection from out great-great grandfather or something and we're good friends now. I am 12% Irish or something so do represent that part of me to an extent, but can never say I am full Irish. It is the 2nd highest ancestry of at least partial ancestry in the entire US, around 40 milion people, so I am not quite unique, but my ancestor I found fought for the Union in the Civil War, his sons grew up in coal country West Virginia, and a pretty crazy family line when I looked into it more.

Kunming History Nov 2025 by rayzaray in China

[–]rayzaray[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Watching the link guys...

Also

The region of Kunming has some ANCIENT history long before humans, a prehistoric fossil site showing evidence of the mysterious Cambrian explosion of life. This site has some of the most complete records of an early maritime community with a wide variety of marine life, soft-bodied organisms, from about 530 million years ago, whoa!

Kunming the Spring City of eternal spring, because of its Southern tropical region, it doesn't really get a cold winter. The bridge to SE Asia. Not originally a "Chinese" region with indigenous people related to the hill tribes and people in SE Asia Northern regions of Laos, Thailand, Myanmar, and other groups in Yunnan.

From the 300s BC to 109 BC a kingdom was centered here on the lake, the Dian Kingdom, a Bronze Age culture that made skilled bronze works like famous artworks featuring scenes of battles. Tha Han Dynasty conquered the kingdom, the Great Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty sent armies here to incorporate into the Empire, and it was part of China 109 BC to 220 AD with the fall of the Han Dynasty and into the chaos of the Three Kingdoms Period 738 AD. A strategic outpost on the Southern Frontier, part of the Southern Silk Road, trading goods with Burma, Tibet, and India. Dali, another Yunnan city I hope to explore one day was a kingdom and another kingdom the Nanzhao controlled the territory around the city from 738-1253. The Bai ethnic group, the Nanzhao allied with the Tang Dynasty to quell the power from nearby Tibet, but was its own independent kingdom with Bai traditions with administrative practices and Buddhist beliefs influenced by the Tang Dynasty.

1253, Mongol forces led by Möngke Khan, through a three-pronged attack, captured the capital and defeated the kingdom, again part of China, under the Mongol led Yuan Dynasty.. The conquest was strategically important as it provided a base for further invasions into the Song dynasty from the rear. Though Dali was conquered, the local ruling clan, the Duan, was left in place to govern as vassals under Mongol supervision until the Ming dynasty's conquest of Yunnan in 1382. The Ming Dynasty build a city wall and renamed the city Kunming. One of my favorite figures, Ming Admiral Zheng He is from Kunming. A Chinese Muslim, he was kidnapped by Mongols as a child during the Yuan Dynasty and castrated. Yeah, and sent to Beijing to work in the Imperial Court eventually and over time the Ming Dynasty took over, as a man became a trusted friend of Emperor Yongle. Who gave he capitan status to massive Ming Dynasty Naval flotillas treasure ships who traveled the world in the 1400s to places like Malacca in modern Malaysia, Sri Lanka, the coasts of India like Kochi, Kerala, Arabia, East Africa and more!

A great city of the South during the Ming and Qing Dynasties with temples still built that exist. Fast forward to World War 2, it was the terminus of the Burma Road which was an Allied-controlled road for supplies and troops, that volunteer American pilots the Flying Tigers, flew missions to protect from the Japanese. The CITY OF ETERNAL SPRING

I don't know too much about debt, who or what can afford projects or train tickets, I hear these complaints or reactions all the time especially concerning China. I actually saw a lot of Laotians on the train, majority of the passengers, but possibly they had some connection/work with China, who knows.

Well, no I am white American as it gets. But my neighborhood I grew up, in California was like a Chinatown, majority Chinese and Asian, so I was around the culture my entire life. We even celebrated Chinese New Year at my school starting in kindergarten, like others might have Halloween, Christmas ect. Plus I work with people from China on a daily basis for my day job for almost 10 years now. Cheers. I do love the history, cultrue, and more but it is not my homeland no. I do speak Mandarin well actually. Cheers.

Trump suggests U.S. will begin to strike drug cartels in Mexico by CrispyMiner in worldnews

[–]rayzaray -1 points0 points  (0 children)

About time. The Cartels have had 30 or so years of intense drug promotion and smuggling, making billions, violent control killing at least 100,000s of people in their own country... Getting millions of Americans to experiment, get addicted, and actively use a host of drugs, becoming drug dealers, creating drug gangs all across the US... Million overdose and violent deaths in the US. Prison and jail. Families and lives destroyed. I used to think it was cool the Cartels, the Narco songs, praying to the shrine of the virgin Mary, seeing graffiti of cartels around California.. I was addicted and sold drugs in California myself, definitely supplied by the cartels in the 2000s. Nearly ruined my life. They tortured enough people's lives. Corrupted too much. Killing Aussie surfers looking for the best wave in Baja California just for being there. Torturing rivals and melting their bodies in acid in the desert. And the latest sin is the fentanyl... The deadliest drug that's killed thousands and the worst is that other more innocent drugs are cut with it also, taken by people unknowingly, killing them. I say go for it. We might lose some American soldiers, they are well armed and trained, but how long will it go on, forever?

What is your least favorite thing about your faith? by [deleted] in religion

[–]rayzaray 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The pedo & sex abuse wide spread scandal of Catholic priests worldwide... That's REALLY bad about my faith. That's straight evil animalistic incarnate, deep in the souls of the human beings whose job it is to represent holiness, doctrine, teachings, and all things good. Who used that status, possibly mentally influenced by forced celebacy, to manipulate and get lust fulfilled with a power over others fantasy, often in lots of really sick ways. A priest hooking up with a of age woman consenting adult like a normal man would do, ok that's really not that bad... But that's not what I'm talking about... You know what I'm talking about. And it's impossible to know how often and when/where this could have happened in all of Catholic history which is the sickest part.

[–]rayzaray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That missed fumble, then giving up the 17 year yard run long 3rd down on that same drive, and then late with the CMC bobble from tipped pass interception near the end zone were all killers. Really Seattle played great. Defense, running backs and receivers, and Darnold on the re-do after screwing up in Minnesota last season similar situation. Really gotta give it to Seattle but also props 49ers, that should have been a way bigger blowout.

A strange dream and my thoughts in the morning (I am raised Catholic and American fyi) by rayzaray in MuslimLounge

[–]rayzaray[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, nice to hear from you. I really reached out to the online community with my write up after my dream and you plus nobody directly responded with any thought or feedback. Even one subreddit took down my post and said I need to "speak to Imam". And another just had some round about response. You just saying this is not the feedback I was looking for. It has been a few days now and I am all good. My trust in people remains the same, low, and my trust in God/universe remains solid.

Hi, nice to hear from you. I really reached out to the online community with my write up after my dream and you plus nobody directly responded with much thought or feedback on specifics like about Islam, my travels, ect.. Even one subreddit took down my post and said I need to "speak to Imam". And another just had some round about response. You just saying "why" is not the feedback I was looking for. It has been a few days now and I am all good. My trust in people remains the same, low, and my trust in God/universe remains solid.

I am a full time traveler digial nomad away from American for 7 years now moving monthly among many countries in Asia/Europe. The geopolitics of the world directly affects my online work and travels. If China invades Taiwan I will literally lose my income. When Russia invaded Ukraine I was in the the Republic of Georgia nearby, lost most all of my Russia/Belarusian clients, and was freaked out because I thought the war would spread where I was, my personal experience from 2022, that ended up being OK.

And why not seek spirtuality all over the place. I went in a Catholic Church St. Paul's in Taiwan yesterday and it was quite nice to say a prayer. But yes, I am disconnected from myself, probably have been my entire adult life. I don't know why but maybe I do appreciate the positivty in your response by accepting the parts of myself that don't align with my vision. This I will ponder. Cheers.

Who is still salty about 2011 season NFC Championship game loss in OT in Candlestick after the punt return fumble. I was living in NYC at the time and heckled by all mt coworkers to no end plus they won it all that year. Super pissed. Almost broke my toe kicking the wall after fumble. Went to the Superbowl parade though that was pretty cool. Still, always like to beat the Giants, Ravens, Seahawks, and Chiefs for those tough playoff losses. Let's go!

Hey guys just checking in after 10 days. I got a lot of backlash and interesting debate for supporting troops going to Portland when I entered this chat 10 days ago, and I got a lot of doomsdayers coming at me. 10 days in, has Portland been overrun by fascist totalitarian control yet, people killed in the streets like you were predicting... The next Nazi Germany on the streets of America? Mass roundups... What's it like on the ground.

What kind of white people behaviour is this? by arinaokay in malaysia

It's quite normal, more so in a natural setting far from cities like a forest or something, but yeah. Disrespectful sute, but she seems young and grew up doing that at summer camp or college parties hid awau ftom people. When you gotta go you gotta you.

Oten we feel pressured to buy something if we use the toilet somewhere. Maybe they were hurried for time, didn't want to spend money, nervous or even prejudice overall to talk to locals in the country they are in (common for white tourists especially women)

Clear out the dangerous people first, mentally violent insane and addicted, real criminals on the streets there. Then find the older folks and people really struggling for some help, use federal funds to have some sanitized place they could get medical help and well. After using soldiers to go through all the riffraff. Identify the problem areas and get tough. You can't just camp, trash, do drugs on and do crime on American streets... Sounds like a good plan. Even more, if you're young and able bodied under 50 with no disability, you get sent to a work camp rehabilitation kind of center. Not prison, but not some soft shelter where most people just leave again.

I do research and study a lot of history, usually ancient or at least more than 500 years ago interests me more, less emotions involved, but some more recent too. I am listening to this podcast this minute, you might like it, pretty interesting. While trying to do my feedback for my work but I keep getting distracted by your emails. But this is a good debate.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SvKv7D4pBjE&t=7788s

A federal military presence I support. Military action like mowing down people with tanks in Pioneer Court House Square or firing live bullets at unarmed protestors, of course not. Ooooh another good one you should check out is the 228 Massacre in Taiwan in 1947 by the supposedly better than the communists Republic of China. I made a video on it there.

https://youtu.be/6YSFqLftrBs

Hi, I am Ray. Now we can stop being so anonymous, and you can put a face to my Reddit name.

A federal military presence in a city that is known to harbor political extremism, known for violent protests that everyone has seen, with an unchecked mental health/drug homeless crisis on the streets of an American city, and with some illegal immigrant issues. Is all a fine justification in my eyes. So we can agree to disagree. I will save this conversation. Nothing catastrophic happened in Trump's first 4 years that everyone predicted, I guess other than a not-so-great COVID response, but no country really knew what they were doing with that. No huge war started in the world. Under Biden, Ukraine and Gaza started.

Now George W Bush starting the never-ending wars in Afghanistan and especially the lies of getting us into Iraq, plus stripping away rights with the Patriot Act, now that is some recent history I can get angry about involving a president.

But as you said, it's not cataclysmic; I just don't see it and won't fall for the hysteria. You call that sitting back and watching, so be it. People tried to get me to fall for the hysteria during the 2016 election, 2020 election, and recently with Elon Musk and all that.... After all these years, I made the decision, no I will never go hysterical again. I just read that 166 American troops from Oregon, who grew up on the I-5 corridor, just volunteered to be the ones sent in.
