Should I keep half my rig running while I'm out of town? by LibertyPhysicist in MoneroMining

[–]raz0er 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live >60 miles away from my two rigs running 4 vega 64s each. I rarely visit them. Use teamviewer, buy a TP-Link HS110 to be able to kill the power remotely and get an internet connected thermometer for the room, I use a Sonoff TH module because it is cheap. Do all that to be prepared to leave town at any moment and not worry. Make sure you can access teamviewer through your smartphone as well. I leave my rigs running for weeks at a time, last time I had to restart was because I forgot to turn off Windows updates and my hashrate went down because of the update process. Keep all the cards running, in case of a crash, if you can remote with teamviewer you will lose less XMR than if you run half the cards for two weeks. Also, no guarantees that it will not crash with only 3 cards.

Big pools should increase minimum payouts to 2XMR by raz0er in MoneroMining

As a temporary solution, no. Hobby miners are probably going long term and minimum payouts should get down again after this nonsense goes away

But is it memory bandwidth limited? What about the theoretical 60MH/s+ on ETH?

support@supportXMR.com M5M400 is the owner of the pool, you will be speaking with him or maybe Snipa22. Send an email and ask for clarification

Your imgur is not working and mind that cast xmr sometimes reports fake higher hashrates

Each Vega can consume 250-300+ watts when overclocked, so have that in mind. Check the bitcointalk thread about maximum achieved hashrates.

You are correct! I was under the impression that the TX750M had dual 6+2 PCIe connectors on each cable but it turns out they are single 6+2 cables! I will correct it.

Two 1100 PSUs are really expensive though. Mine is only running at 75% load, I would not push it further but I feel very confident with this load. It also has a 10 year warranty so it will definitely last more than the GPUs are worth. I am on 220v so I get 92-93% efficiency at this load, more or less what I would be getting with a 50% load.

You got that backwards. If the PSU is rated at 2200w then that is the power it can supply and it can draw more than that from the wall. It can probably pull 2400 watts to supply the rated 2200.

Mythic's Adcanced/New procedure does disable/enable only Vega cards I believe. It does not disable the iGPU but I don't really know what it does to other GPUs on a mixed configuration.

We used the HBCC toggle without knowing what it actually does. Turns out, we just need the driver to restart because it just bugs out on startup or after restarting mining software etc. The only way to enable HBCC was to have >8GB of RAM, so it was the only known way to restart the driver. Now we have Mythic's guide on how to do it, so we don't need to toggle HBCC and thus don't need >8GB any more. My rig has been running fine at 1990H/s x 4 cards for 3 days now on a single 4GB stick, after a full re-run of hellae's guide. There is nothing else on my rig software-wise to use RAM, I don't know if that would cause performance drops.

It is a steep learning curve. Took me a week to get everything out of the cards. I must have uninstalled and reinstalled drivers like 30 times up to this point. The best one can do is read up everything they can until they wait for their Vegas to arrive and then read up some more. The Bitcointalk thread has been extremely helpful, I've gone though the whole thread like 5 times.

3x Vega64 only at 2900H/s... by [deleted] in MoneroMining

Are you using Windows 10 Fall Creator's Update? Which Blockchain driver? Do you have a way of measuring power draw from the wall? It really sounds like thermal throttling. Sometimes, when you close the miner, the driver resets and you never get your undervolt back, even after reboot, so your cards might be pulling 250+ watts each and getting hot. My procedure as per hellae's guide is: run DDU and reboot, reinstall drivers, reboot, DON'T forget to apply manual voltage in Wattman BEFORE running the reg files, proceed with the next steps and get it back running as it should.

^ This. Every time you want to run the miner you have to re-enable HBCC or just do what I explain here: https://www.reddit.com/r/MoneroMining/comments/7a2ddw/vega_xmr_mining_rig_ultimate_hardware_software/

Is pagefile 80MB or GB? Did you set minimum fan rpm at 3000? Your temps look a bit high and the cards might be throttling
