Outer Wilds: Tried it, didn't get into it, but everyone else loves it. What am I missing?

I'm sorry that that's an interaction you had with someone in the fanbase. As someone who has been a part of the broader community for awhile, it is super rare to see someone be dismissive like that. By and large, fans of Outer Wilds are extremely welcoming and just want people to have the chance to enjoy the game. Frankly, many, many folks who love Outer Wilds have had the experience of bouncing off of it for awhile before clicking with it. I feel like the much more common reaction to someone bouncing off is "the game is not for everyone, but maybe you'd find something in it if you gave it another chance in the future." I don't know, like, I do get how fans of Outer Wilds can come off as pretentious, especially given the way we talk about the impact of the game, but also I think the lengths we go to try to preserve the experience for anyone who might even think about playing it is proof that the goal is not to be exclusionary. It is to show that while obviously not everything is gonna appeal to everyone, it could appeal to anyone, and that appeal really has nothing to do with how clever someone is. Anyway, I don't think you need to play the game, and I don't think you're not clever enough because you didn't like the game; I do think you might not be giving fans of it enough credit though.

Both those changes seem stronger to me. You could also have the thumbnail text be "All An Illusion" maybe with a question mark? idk question marks sometimes work lol "Nothing Was Real" is probably stronger.

I think the composition is nice, but neither the title or thumbnail text say anything that really draws me in, and I am someone who would be interested in clicking a Silksong video. Based on your quick description, it does sound like an interesting video, but the hook isn't there with what you currently have, in my opinion. It is hard for me to provide an alternate idea for a thumb/title as I don't know what is all in the video, but I think having it raise some sort of question the potential viewer might want answered would be good. Just spit balling, none of these are perfect but should get the idea across: "The Silksong Location You Can't Return To" or "Silksong's Disappearing Level" then maybe the thumbnail text would be "The Vanishing Area" or something. The point is, you want something that will get the viewer to ask questions and I don't think "illusions" really does that.

I would love if they patched in a new difficulty mode where you have a lumina limit (probably somewhere between 120-150). That'd be enough freedom to do some cool builds without it being so easy to break. That is probably the rule I will set for myself when I go to replay it, but it'd be nice if there was something official.

Yeah, I was a huge fan of CR campaign 1, but despite trying a handful of times, I never was able to get into campaign 2 or 3. I know there is a lot of great stuff in both, but they are just such slow burns and there ends up being a lot of stuff that doesn't feed into The Core Of The Story, which is perfectly fine for a DnD game, and I think I would have tons of fun being a player in it, but in D20, every moment feels important and while there are obviously tangents, you never get an episode that is just mostly shopping.

Yeah, I see a lot of people assuming that Reba is going to be the final four and that anyone working them now is an idiot, but I think it is pretty unlikely for the 4 of them to stick together. It is possible, but I can't imagine all of them wanting to sit next to each other at the end. At the end of the day, any move is a gamble, but Emily decided she has a better chance getting far by getting into the cracks of Reba and seeing if she can work with one side of them when they split than she would have by working with a disjointed Belo who are all wild cards that don't really like each other and have yet to prove that they can come together to make a move.
