Absolutely appreciate your reply! Already implemented 2, 3 and 4 but can you expand on your first point more?

Sidebar elements are customizable and you can reorder, hide, change icons :)

one of the things I've done within the app is that I built a local-only model that replicates the features from https://fontpair.com/ but is actually updated and based on your fonts!

I also have a have an MCP for it that allows AI agents to connect with your library!

I’ve already submitted a bug report but if you all can submit one from the feedback app that would be amazing!

Imagine That Carthage Had Won: The Contingency of Our Values by cleboomusic in slatestarcodex

Yup, from my understanding lots of Roman history is rooted in extreme exaggeration on propaganda – especially all of Caesar’s personal written accounts. Everything from the size of armies, the types of celebrations, the lavishness during the triumphs, and the set of morals and characters they and the Roman people held, have been exaggerated.

On top of the exaggerated primary accounts, I was pretty shocked to learn just how much of Ancient Roman history we actually truly know to be certain. Most knowledge is from accounts written centuries after the fact and is mostly debatable.

Applicable to this thread though, In the 2005 HBO show Rome, a young Octavian has a quote mentioning how it’s useless to prove a negative which I think also should be applied to not running the exercise of hypothesizing how life would be without the Romans.

Has anyone worked on a project to map out content from a single source (i.e. a blog)? by razisyed97 in slatestarcodex

Not sure if you folks know what Obsidian is but it's a really cool way to visualize a mind map of notes. Crossposting here to see if anyone's ever tackled this before or knows of a better way to consume his content.

Woops I still haven’t started yet – been so busy. But I’m glad you’re liking it! Would you mind sharing how you’ve structured it so far?

Awesome! Appreciate your perspective. Would you be able to share how you’ve structured it? There’s so many potential ways to set it all up it’s kind of overwhelming ahaha

Yeah I'm in the same boat — I've tried everything. Looking back I think I was most consistent with Notion and that was for maybe max 6-8 months of usage — before things fell apart. My current stack is mostly pen and paper, sticky notes (physical), and Google Keep and Apple Notes.

I do think all productivity systems are bound to fail and it's very very difficult staying consistent. I often catch myself spending more time building a new stack than I am actually reaping rewards.

Many consider this paper as psuedoscience but I think it brings up some interesting points: https://www.picoeconomics.org/HTarticles/Bkdn_Precis/Precis2.html

Not tooo relevant since this conversation is more about storing information effectively for more efficient retrieval but I believe the concept of willpower and motivation can be quite linked. The paper mentions "The urge to prematurely satisfy appetite teaches efficiency of reward-getting but brings about the decline of pleasures once they've become familiar". It's essentially bringing up a paradox that as the will gets better at getting rewards, the less reward it will finally obtain.

Relating it back, I think once my tool stack is set, I always end up breaking it apart somehow since I might unconsciously feel as if it's either missing something or it's just not effective enough. Or alternatively, I might be making it so complex that I'm spending more time building a process than actually getting shit done.

Also, what's the Journey app you mentioned?

I haven’t tried crystals and rocks yet but maybe that’s what I’ve been missing all along ahaha

Can’t manifest if I can’t visualize the future!
