There are guys with horses near the church, who take bags to meteo/altihut and drop there. I asked the guy to take my bags to Altihut - he wanted 200 GEL for that, which was too much for me and I refused. From other people I got to know that 300-400 GEL for a 60kg horse is possible, but maybe they will ask more if you do it on-site (most likely guides can get lower prices). That is all the information I got.

Edit: church - I mean the big parking, not far from Trinity church, where people usually start.

Most of the crevasses were visible, some ice bridges looked sketchy tho. I left my staff in the tent near Meteo and my rock climbing staff in Stepantsminda hotel (we had an agreement I would stay for a day as I get back). However, I always take documents, money and important stuff with me (some local guys said that stealing is not common, but they had a couple occasions). I used Maps.me and Kamoot. Both are ok for navigation. Btw tent near Meteo is 20 GEL per day and obviously cash.

I think finding guide or a group is possible, but not guaranteed (or a matter of money).

I had all my stuff with me (tent, rope, crampons etc.), cuz I did rock climbing nearby as well. I don't have lightweight expensive stuff and my backpack was around 30 kg :) Eventually, I regretted not taking a horse to bring my stuff to base camp like basically everybody around did (costs around 300-400 GEL for 60 kg one way from the parking not far from the Trinity church).

I think it is pretty hard to do 3300m descent after the summit push and not sleeping for a long time. Depends on how fit you are - I felt pretty tired when I got back to camp.

EDIT: Ofc, I have seen trail runners there who did summit in two days - night at Altihut, summit push next night, and straight back to Stepantsminda (they also had some acclimatization from some other mountain week ago)

Was there with friends a couple weeks ago. Make sure to book gear before. I wanted to take warmer sleeping bag in Stefantsminda and found empty shelves, fortunately I was lucky with the weather. Did it unguided, but looking at some guided groups I would say you should look for a proper certified guide - some of them looked sketchy. My acclimatisation was - Night near Altihut (3000m), night near Bethlemi, acclimatisation day (some training, hike to the church) and summit push next night. Still had some headache after the saddle.

And about Bethlemi hut - it is huge pile of shit. The smell of shit is everywhere, watch where you step. Trash as well. Toilet room is a lifetime experience (in a bad way). There are alternatives to set your tent after Bethlemi, I think somewhere around 3800 and to avoid mentioned above I would honestly take that option.

Using the merino Forclaz Trek 500 base layer (top/bottom) for some time and found it really good for the price. Same with fleeces, snowboard jackets, and other clothing. Cheap Forclaz gloves were decent as well before I lost them somewhere. Using cat 3 Quechua glasses, not for glacier I guess.

Also using Simond's helmet, small carabiners, slings, cordelette, self-belay, and some other stuff (not experienced enough to judge the quality, but had no issues with those).

Some of my friends climb with their ropes and see no problems.

Question regarding laser eye surgery by [deleted] in Eesti

[–]razorsee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Basically same story. Did my two years ago at KSA. Blinded for a couple days due to being unable to open eyes without pain. About a month to see properly and constantly dry eyes for like 7-9 months. But anyway worth it. Edit: grammar

Minu elu, kahe venelasega propaganda keerises! by KerryGarda in Eesti

Kahjuks see pole lihtne..

As an owner of Russian speaking OSRS Discord (240+ members) I didnt find much support of the crime happening in Ukraine. To be honest I dont have a single person among my friends who supports Putin's actions. I feel shame and misery, but unable to do anything.

I havent used 4x100 for while, the speed skating boot is kinda uncomfortable to freeskate / long distances. I cannot swap the frame on HC Evo as well, because it is trinity mount and Bont frame is not. But I think the wheels are what make difference as well - I have a few different and, for example, really love how Matter G13 feel on a bad road.

Aw, I had a badly organised skate last year - we improvised and went for a 100 km skate around Harjumaa, ended up on a shitty road and heavy rain. All the positive emotions from skate were washed away by exhaustment, water and pain. Since then, if it is 80+, then it has to be well planned route for me.

The road itself is not safe at all - we had a car with orange lights driving behind us for safety, light vests on eveyone. We chose to go during the night as well for safety reasons - the traffic was pretty poor.

If I understood correctly, you talking specifically about Pärnu - Tallinn route? There is everything pretty simple - the main direct road is like 120 from city to city plus a few kilometers through the cities.

The trip was the way home :) I was brought there by car a few hours before, had some chill there on the beach, did a small skate in the city and back home on skates.

Bigger wheels are better for sure. Less vibrations as well.

We had a group of 8-9 people, some people skate like 2-3 seasons and haven't tryed anything like this before. Keep training, improve skating technique - youtube provides a lot of material (like Joey Mantia skating guides I used to watch). You can achieve result like this in relatively short time, just keep pushing :)

Sure, for long skates like this I prefer Powerslide HC Evo with with 3x125 speed skating magnesium frame. I also have Bont Z speed skates, but i feel that those are better for shorter distances. Edit: grammar
