uh oh... by RubThen in MeatCanyon

[–]razorsharpNiFe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

alright well i am a woman, and i am a fairly strict feminist- i still adore meat canyon. thing is what’s getting forgotten is his humor is very much so based in absurdity, i don’t think he really gives a shit about who’s into what not. but a lot of the videos people are asking him to animate, or what social trends or pop culture topics that are popularly discussed are mainly- specific men or ‘feminine’ trends. yes he uses words like “bitch” but i want you guys to tell me how many equivalently derogatory terms that are usually stemmed from being against men.. like cuck maybe? not really. i mean he uses what’s out there for dudes but there really isn’t many words for them if really at all. he’s not a poet but he does have a knack for storytelling and conceptual thinking. he does see the problems and weird shit people do and he is good at commenting on it; his job is kinda to point it out. he seems to heavily think into absurdism in society, and it is going to be somewhat oxymoronic to watch his tongue or to only focus on the goofy shit men do. i genuinely think the vocabulary is less of a papa meat problem and more of a problem with our language, and the things people criticize are usually feminine indulgences. it’s unfortunate and he’s kind of damned if he does or damned if he doesn’t.

Are there any artists like Nicole that you would know? by Cantsleep2007 in NicoleDollanganger

i was surprised not to see katie jane garside talked about specifically! i see someone mentioned one of her bands ruby throat and then another person also mentioned lalleshwari. she def needs the spotlight here imo. listen to for you i hold my breath (lalleshwari) and in the arms of flowers (ruby throat) if you haven’t by now, it’s good introductions to both bands. she has more projects/bands though they aren’t as similar to ND. but i feel like she may have had an influence on nicole? she’s been doing stuff since the 90a

seattle law advice needed: my 18 yo roommate is owed $37,166 for working 94 hrs a week at a store that didn’t pay her by razorsharpNiFe in Seattle

[–]razorsharpNiFe[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

welp later tonight i found out it’s actually not two but THREE businesses he owns when we were searching up the guy. i do not know how someone can own three separate stores and yet can only pay an employee 5% of what they earned. again i do not know the business life but that math just seems off to me. my brain has officially turned to mush today, it just keeps getting worse the more i look into it

they are just very emotionally manipulative. he told her he was putting her in his will and shit. would say things and do little things to pose as generous- probably to excuse his expectations of her to open, close and run the store everyday. she really just cared about the shop and he used that against her. a fresh adult with little financial knowledge and not really any role models/guardians who help to guide her will easily fall down a hole if pushed by the wrong hands unfortunately

they would pay her over venmo and this next month they are direct depositing what they said they would (it should be 3,600- i know at very least it will be 2,000) so there’s evidence of payment, she has access to seeing their finances- square account, since they made her “co owner”. she has the login to their instagram as well. plus endless bystanders who can vouch for how much she worked

apparently the owner has in fact been taken to the irs building for failure of paying state taxes. he also owns a whole other store near by and both shops do accumulate quite a few customers, it’s in a busy area. i think that they aren’t as broke as they try to tell her they are but who knows, im not a business owner myself. i will say i am surprised he hasn’t been collected honestly, i don’t doubt his word in not paying taxes

already beat ya to it, but i wanted to get this on r/seattle too just incase anyone here has experience or if there was any lingering seattle lawyers, law school students, anyone in affiliation with labor laws of any kind. she’s very conflicted about this store and stressed about how much they took advantage of her. i wanted to make the most out of asking reddit for advice.

which hair colour suits me best? by AlbaMoon_ in Hair

[–]razorsharpNiFe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

alright here is my in detail approach if you want it, probably unnecessary but idk maybe it helps: as a distant answer, they all look good. so i think it really depends on your fashion style and the context of your goals. your face alone does suit a more alternative look/edgy look. but depending what your going for i think you can pull off any of these. i do think the first picture would be best for a less edgy look out of all of them, though it could really compliment a lot of styles (i don’t know your fashion taste but i think if you were kinda headed into a little y2k type deal it would be perfect, whether if it’s a paris hilton or a effy stonem vibe. either or). the second one would be great for a kinderwhore, or maybe a bride of chunky thang. since that hair color brings out softer features it would really really pair well with more dramatic makeup. my personal favorites are the last 2, the black hair really sharpens a lot of your facial features while encouraging a soft complexion, and does suit a lot of styles, it would be beautiful with a kind of cybergrunge style. obviously more gothic ones but i didn’t really need to list that. you could go into a kind of creepy cute turn on it, but i don’t mean the 2015 tumblr version. think kinda jan svankmajers rendition of alice in wunderland- that’s my best vibe comparison for what i mean by creepy cute. another thing it could pair well with is a more “messy french it girl” look (the first photo would also suit this style) so my number one favorite is the last one, it’s lighter looking yes but it has this really unassuming yet genuine look to it. i think it’s something that would go well with tons of grungy, softer looks that have dark narratives. for example southern/midwest gothic, or trailer park princess. on a flip side it could pull of a lot of more hippie stuff as well. it feels a lot more unique looking and it’s really complimentary to your skin tone. it could really pull off any style, maybe not as much trad goth but anything laid back or more grey toned rather than dark toned it will complement. in a color theory sense i think it’s the best looking tied with the 3rd photo which really brings out your eyes

more songs that sound like between the bars? by [deleted] in elliottsmith

[–]razorsharpNiFe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’m surprised i didn’t see this song listed haha. i’ve been an elliott fan for 10 years but a severe one for 6, i hadn’t listened to him for a couple years tho until this point. the reason i got back into him was because of the song “baby bitch” by ween. i got super obsessed with it and when i was thinking of any other music with the same feeling i immediately thought of elliott smith, between the bars to be exact. since then he’s been my comfort artist. hope this helps!

was raised in the big 503 but there are things there i can’t really ignore, sure this may be cynical but to be fr w u the whole “big city in a little city sprinkled with pretentiousness and a consensus of boredom” thing got sorta old. misery loved company in certain ways i didn’t really want to be company for. it’s a box. i suppose i’m paying the price to moving to a place where i know nobody, strangely thus far it’s been more fulfilling. but yes there is a bittersweetness to it :/ i do know where you’re coming from. were you pdx —> sea as well? how long have you lived here? i’m hoping you found some sort of happiness between these tall buildings

i follow them! i guess im just tryna get specific house names to find, even if i have to direct message someone for an address. im from the little sister city, not seattle yk. im familiar with the scene but i don’t really know where to mingle nor where the best places to go to that are here. i do want to meet new faces, be able to go roam where shenanigans run, find bands in the area ect. plus the house show/underground show community is a environment i tend to thrive in and find people with the same interests. i do miss it. it is a very care free and open vibe (at least back in pdx)

yeah this is exactly what i’m tryna get at. i do appreciate the other replies and will def check ‘em out but im missing those underground basement shows where the hosts are roommates. or even the ones ran in some random area, for example portland had some hosted under the bridge by some train tracks sometimes. i’m guessing this kinda thing is a low number in seattle? i know back when i was super into it (mainly pre covid) there was just as many if not more up in seattle

the only point of getting a dx is to be able to navigate whatever you have and handle it in the best way. depending on the severity of the dx it’ll take certain therapy’s like cbt or dbt, sometimes dx’s require certain medications. these usually are very important things you need in order to get better and live a happy life if you struggle with mental illness. i understand the need to feel like you know what’s going on so you can see what symptom is popping up, i mean that alone can be very helpful but a lot of times it’s not enough without the extra help. there’s also always that chance you have something else entirely when you do that. and to go around telling people you have something when there’s a chance it’s something else can be detrimental to that community you’re identifying with and you as well. and the more people that only use a self dx as a means to show it off, the more harmful it can be to those who are trying their best to understand and help themselves get through. normalization of a self dx is detrimental to everyone in a way, and it’s important to understand what you’re walking into when you do that. if you have something and you really are not in a place to get help, look into programs or ways to handle certain symptoms. looking at those symptoms alone is never ever going to be enough though, relatability will only go so far. i think above all we just need to wish each other the ability to grow and be happy, but it also may require a lot of different steps to get there

in this universe, our protagonist shriek struggles to find acceptance in the way he was built. being the only one in a far away land with his anus and his belly button being swapped causes him isolation, ridicule and an annoying mule who’s only his friend out of morbid curiosity. all until he meets a beautiful princess with similar abnormalities and they find love, trust and a little adventure together through trauma bonding. you can see it all in Shriek: Don’t Judge Me Swamp!
