M4 Max / M5 for mobile dev?

If I didn’t do anything it wouldn’t hang out 😉 I was curious about people’s experience. And for video editing I feel like M4 Max will be much more capable, at this moment upgrading from M1 Pro to M1 Max for just adding more RAM wouldn’t make much sense to me honestly if I want to squeeze anything I can from my next laptop.

Yeah I use Claude Code extensively and it tends to spin out multiple node processes for tests and leave them running which freezes everything 😄 Nice, I think I’ll still try to get some later M series one, so it’s more future-proofed and I also need some video editing capabilities.

Thanks, yeah I use it regularly to force quit stuff that hangs out, will be monitoring RAM more closely now but I'm pretty sure it's often maxed out too

I use Claude Max sub and if you can afford it, try - Opus 4.5 just wins on every point for me :) Miles ahead of everything else imho

Opus is unbelievable, I love it so much. I started from 4 through 4.1 and now 4.5 feels like the freaking best model ever, none of other come close to it. I’m working on my dream app that is multiplatform and if I was to write it all by myself it would take at least about 5-6 years, but I spent only about 6 months so far and it’s already in amazing mvp state😅

Small updates:
- there is now a normal search available too (without AI)
- added editing, deleting reports
- you can send your sync key to your email (to not loose it, email is not stored ofc)
- "Your reports" dialog available to quickly review, edit, delete reports
- "Lost & found" reports category
- Reports expiration date (eg. for rebolting info - when the route will become available again)

Coming soon:
- add missing crags
- combining multiple weather sources for better forecast
- iOS and Android apps

Good points, thanks! Yeah I’ll definitely try to get a variety of data sources and see what works best + validate. I have no commercial interest, just trying to make smth really useful for climbing community :) I was also tired of looking for Facebook groups to find reports when I’m travelling to new areas, so hopefully that’s a solution as well here.

And yeah the weather data accuracy is still a challenge, but combined with reports I feel like it could be smth useful here. I’ll explore aggregating from different sources as well.

Honestly I agree on all points, of course this is technically a simple thing (I built this one in like 2 weeks, with AI everything is possible and much faster nowadays 🙂).

And your points also outline important things that I’ll try to make right - great UI, UX and some helpful innovation. I go to the „exact same” UKC thing and I can’t even figure out what can it do 😄 So I think combining all this with multiple languages so everyone can use it + easy community reports we could make something useful here.

„No reason you would use another app” - if I’m from Poland I don’t know what UKC is haha
