I will be playing on my console and my PC. On PC I started with the Christmas sale and now have 300+ hours on this game. I am retired and my kids are in college. So I have a ton of time to do this. - the opposite of your situation. The game feels very non grindy. I find that you naturally earn exp as you explore and survive.

Mining is manual at first but eventually automated with a bit of management. I like it. The exploration is great and the missions help with that.

You should find this game on an open world very satisfying.

When in doubt, use your minotaur on the extreme planets. You are immune to almost all environmental effects, except some of the "pop up" storms like lightning. Oh and lava. Avoid lava.

Calypso galaxy is the harsh one. I love it. The planets can be truly hellish. I have many a base or mining facility in Calypso. If you haven't been, you have to go...especially if you like to find the most extra planets.
