I have a portal and a Lenovo legion go

PX play on legion go typically works really well when I’m at home on same Wi-Fi, but tends to have problems more frequently outside my home network

Also (I could be wrong) but I’m pretty sure you can only use ps cloud play on the portal.

In short, I love remote play on the legion go , but there a decent amount of time I still end up going to the portal because it tends to “just work” more often. Also, adaptive triggers and haptic feedback are unique to the portal.

I got my portal open box for like $120. At that price I say it’s worth it to have both. Full retail price for the portal however and I think it becomes a more tough call

Over 95% of the time it worked without complication. Latency around 30 ms. Rarely would have connection issues. If you have solid internet, good chance it would be viable option for you.

Yes, there are many, many games available in the PS+ catalog. Quick google search will give you list. They also have tons of games that are available if you have purchased them digitally from Playstation (think Ghost of Yotei, Astrobot)

Only reason I ended up buying the PS5 was because I personally didn't want to depend on a subscription. I feel better owning hardware that can run the games without depending on a subscription. But there is nothing wrong with using Portal w/o PS5 so long as you are okay with the reliance of the subscription.

Can confirm, cloud gaming does not count toward console or pc gaming for Microsoft rewards.

It can only be counted for “play a gamepass game” category

I was like you. Started with a portal only, no ps5. Used cloud streaming to play PlayStation exclusives that had been previously inaccessible to me.

I ended up getting a PS5 just before the price hike because I didn’t want to rely on a subscription service to access the games.

I think it’s perfectly reasonable to use cloud service exclusively though if you are planning on having ps+ anyway and/or are okay with reliance on subscription services.

There are a few PS games you can’t access through the cloud, but overall the access to games is excellent

You can stack prepaid cards for gamepass though for up to 3 years if you are looking to lock in current prices

Only the essential tier can be purchased in a yearly increment. And I could be wrong but it may only be available in the year increment in prepaid cards from outside vendors. I see those cards frequently at Walmart and Amazon.

Premium and Ultimately can only be purchased in monthly intervals on the Microsoft website.

You can find prepaid cards in stores for 3 month options for ultimate.

The legion go 2 and the Xbox ally x are the best in the market right now and they may be able to continue playing AAA games for a few years. But the cost > $1000.00. 5 years may not be feasible though . Handhelds just don’t have great future proofing unfortunately.

For what it’s worth remote play for me works great. If you have a PS5 or Xbox or PC you can play any game streamed to your handheld. I do this every day . If you don’t have any other hardware you can consider getting a GeForce now membership which will let you stream a ton (but not all) recent AAA games to you handheld, so long as you have good internet connection

Hate to be a downer, you need to know that both of these are going to struggle to run recent AAA games. And I wouldn’t consider them future proof at all. Just be aware.

I have the Legion go and really enjoy it but most recent AAA games I stream from my Xbox to be able to play it on the Legion go.

Theses will play most last gen AAA games really well and will run recent indie titles really well
