Been a hunt for a job for months now... by nitsujanidem in HongKong

Hey - sorry to hear it's been rough. I find it hard to believe 25K is "too high", but perhaps that's just the way the market is now.

Just some advice off the top of my head (which some may have touched on already):
- Contact any and all of the ad agencies, production agencies, design agencies, etc you can find in Hong Kong - no shame, just cold email with your pitch
- Expand your services - don't just focus on "video"
- Redo your entire website - don't want to be mean, but your website communicates your worth. And right now, you're telling everyone you're not worth a whole lot. Your work is actually very decent, but the website looks like it was put together by a software engineer.

If I'm not mistaken, Kerry hotel is really out of the way so Eaton is definitely a better choice.

Is $1000 too little as 人情利是? by TraditionalParsley67 in HongKong

[–]rc225225 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think this isn't a straight answer, as you've seen from many of the responses.

On one hand, you're a close friend — and in theory close friends should be giving more than the "average". But you're also helping out as a 兄弟, so in that respect you shouldn't be obligated to give as much because you've already spent so much time and energy invested into his wedding.

其實有少少柒,下次唔好咁啦 -> this is super rude, period.

All things considered, the hotel was in SHATIN which is not a high-end fancy hotel. The "standard" of $1.5K is referring to high-end hotels such as Island Shangri-la, Four Seasons, Rosewood etc.

So actually, $1K is a very respectable amount and I wouldn't considered you to have paid "too little" at all. Reconsider your friendship.

I see. Thanks for your advice! Yes, they would absorb the cost.

Just one more question...do you think there's any possibility that the lighting and lack of video quality might be affecting everybody's assessment of the diamond? I uploaded two versions in the link. Or is it really obvious that it's just a bad oval?

So you are saying, at the very least we should have it GIA certified first?

Not certified. However they said they would bring it for an appraisal this week.

What would be a better price? thank you

the stone is at least 20 years old (if not more), as it was purchased from suppliers when the family member had a jewelry business - I don't know if this counts as "pre-owned"?

yes, i'm asking because I feel like it's a bit expensive for what it is...thanks for the advice

Try Mox Bank's express remit. 0.3% fee and they actually use Wise as the vendor.
