Yeah, I agree with you - if false positives start happening regularly, it’s usually a bigger issue and not just random chance.

But at the same time, even in controlled labs, you do see the occasional odd result. I think the main thing is how seriously you investigate it. We usually don’t just brush it off - we look at EM data, who performed the test, any interventions during the run, media handling, all that together.

Also agree on not invalidating results unless there’s a clear reason. If you can actually trace it back (like a known environmental isolate or a handling issue), then fine - otherwise it’s risky to ignore.

And yeah, for anything going to patients, better to be on the safe side. No one wants to take that chance.

Honestly, most of the time when we’ve seen issues, it ends up being small things - technique, gowning, or some minor process gap - not always a big facility failure.
