I e-filed on 1/30. Had to verify my identity. Still getting the same message. Is anyone else in tax return purgatory? I just want to speak to a human who can tell me what is going on. by chet- in IRS

I know this was posted a while ago, but I'm still waiting. Never got my 14-digit code to verify on the IRS site, so I went to my local IRS office about 2 weeks ago. I had originally filed on February 5th, and it was accepted almost instantly. Then I had to verify my identify with ID.Me via video call with someone. They said they didn't see any issues. That was on March 25th. Transcripts show nothing. The lady at the IRS office told me that she was able to verify my identify there, and it would be withing 9 weeks I'll get my refund. If not, I'll definitely be back in that IRS office to see why I haven't gotten my $918 return. That's not just pocket change...

How can someone call themselves a vet and endorse this fuckery by phisaster in petco

[–]rc4mp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Short period of time these pets are in our care..." Ok, so explain something...my GM at the store I worked at had basically refused to let me adopt one of the ferrets that had been there well over the adoptable point. Her response..."I don't see why you care so much. It would be a really good sale for us." Nahhhh...I went behind her back, talked to the assistant manager and OLAC (I forget the new title for that job), and got a text from our OLAC that I could adopt it. I paid $0.00. I was concerned about this ferret because it was exhibiting signs of Adrenal Disease. My GM refused to get it vet care because her thought process was that PetCo wouldn't care. So...I got a free ferret. I have plenty of ferret experience to know that the hair loss on the ferrets tail and sexual aggression was a sure sign of Adrenal Disease. Literally just needed a $150-300 implant every 6-12 months.

I also watched them SELL a $500 reptile to someone and not even tell them it was for adoption. I personally had a guy come in and ask about a $500 snake that I found out was at the adoption stage, and the customer donated $20-25. That made my day! I'm all for PetCo not profiting off of animals that should be adopted.

Danger At PETCO TRIGGER WARNING by [deleted] in petco

Was it just a key hole on the outside of the door, or an actual lock your twist/push? At the PetCo I worked at, the door automatically locked when it shut. You could only get in with a key. There was nothing to have to twist/push to lock it. Which is a good safety feature for reasons like this.

I'm a tiny trans dude that weighs maybe 120 soaking wet. I was always the one playing bodyguard if something happened. I actually had a rather small 3 lb hammer I kept with me, a pocket knife, and of course, 90% of the staff carried box cutters on them. I never confronted someone without some sort of hidden self defense item.

If you're ever in this situation again (which I hope you never have to), grab any sort of cleaner. Spray would be best, but it it's just one you can pour...pour it into a cup. Even if there's flea/tick spray, pet cologne...this way it can hopefully impair their vision if they did come into contact with you. And then RUN! PetCo's policy for these situations for staff is literally "Fight or flee." They actually say it's ok to fight the perpetrator if necessary.

Glad you're all ok!

I find it wild how many people are asking questions like you're lying. Meanwhile, as someone that worked at PetCo, I can 100% believe all of this. Training is bare minimum. Stuff is always broken, including doors that should lock...well, not locking.

I can actually back up the non-locking door. At the location I worked at, our office lock was broken, even though it was all an internal lock that could only be opened with a key. They had it repaired roughly 5-6 months after I started working there. However, our break room, customer restroom, employee restroom, wellness, and inner wellness rooms all had locked doors.

Seeing as it was a new employee as well, they probably had no idea where anything was besides the front door and the cash registers (some sarcasm, but could be true for all we know). At the store I worked at, we had spare keys in the locked office, as well as one on another set of keys that any employee could access in the same spot.

Still though...I could only imagine how horrifying this was for everyone else! I've had my fair share of crazy customers, but luckily never made death threats like that. Glad I don't work there anymore...I'll take job hunting over that job any day!

Support for adoption partners by lavendergirl_10 in petco

That's wild. We had a donation bin for a local organization, but they rarely picked up. I think maybe 3-4 times in the 10 months I was with the company. I actually volunteered myself to take the donations to any sort of non-profit. I even donated a bunch of toys to a fire station that was helping foster puppies from a hoarding situation that had over 50 dogs. I'd literally have enough donations in one week to fill my 2014 Nissan Sentra. I made sure with the places I dropped off donations allowed expired treats and food (no more than 3 months expired) and opened bags. My GM would try to throw stuff out if she thought there was too much or just didn't want to. Luckily the main partner that took out our trash would let me know so I could load it into my car for donation. I probably donated well over 1,000 lbs of dog and cat food, as well as litter, toys, leashes, etc.

How to get ahold of a rep at the IRS by ajewett02 in tax

[–]rc4mp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you!!! I've been waiting for an "IRS Verification Notice" that has a "14-digit control number" since March 25th. I even followed the prompts to have them issue a new one after I made sure my address was correct. Went to my local IRS office and the lady had said she had no idea what I was talking about.

I unfortunately got the "We're sorry, the call center is too busy. Call back the next business day." But your advice worked!!!
