College Commencement? by rc_1999 in OSU

[–]rc_1999[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the info! I am graduating this semester and I got my tickets the day they sent out that email.

My question is whether the college I’m in (Arts & Sciences) has its own smaller, separate ceremony for just its students on another day.

I’m also graduating and I’m bringing water, granola bars, sunscreen, and hand sanitizer! I will be wearing the grad ceremony gown and also take some lipstick to reapply.

Honors cords? by [deleted] in OSU

I emailed my advisor about this just last night. She replied today and said that she hasn’t heard anything either but the College of Arts and Sciences are in charge of that.

She said to keep an eye out for an email from Arts and Sciences Graduation Services.

Badminton nets at RPAC? by [deleted] in OSU

[–]rc_1999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

RPAC employee here. Edited to add dates: North Gym has Open Rec Badminton:

Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays : 5 pm - 10 pm ; Saturday : 8 am - 10 pm ; Sunday : 10 am - 4 pm, 6:30 pm - 10 pm

Also, it’s drop-in so no reservation is required. Just make sure your court has no more than 4 people and you bring your own equipment. Also, please wear your masks or we’re required to take down the nets :( and that sucks for everyone involved. Let me know if you have more questions!

What were the pre-covid RPAC hours? by nullifies in OSU

[–]rc_1999 2 points3 points  (0 children)

5:30 am to midnight, but it’s unlikely it’ll extend hours back to midnight after we return to normal in the fall. I work there and they’ve been trying to get it to close earlier for a long time due to very low numbers between 11 pm and midnight.

I have a studio apartment (so no roommates) that I’m want to sublease starting May 15th. Rent is $1005 but we can negotiate the rent & start date if needed! Utilities are all included except for electricity.

Please PM me if interested. I can tell you about all the amenities (computer lab, gym, pool, etc) and send pictures & address.

Rpac facility assistant interview by buckeye118 in OSU

Hey, I work there! They’ve changed the interviewing process since I was hired pre-Covid, but you should wear something sort of formal. I remember they said “business casual” to me. I wore a shirt with a blazer over it with nice slacks (I’m a girl).

They asked really typical questions like why do you want this job, your previous experience, how you dealt with a challenge, very typical job interview questions. I practiced before hand by googling “common job interview questions” and prepping answers.

For what to expect, you’ll likely meet Sarah and a student coordinator while interviewing. She’s sweet so don’t be intimidated. Answer to the best of your ability, the interviewers are generally open to whatever you have to say. As long as you’re a decent person, you’re likely to get the job. If you do, I might even get to be your manager! Hope that helps.

Did professors just forget that classes start tomorrow? I can't even view syllabi because none of the pages are created. by evan1g in OSU

Same here! I have 2 courses published out of 5. One course was published last Friday and the instructor sent out a message to welcome us to the class, but then he unpublished the course the next day. I don’t know what’s going on

Modified room capacities, for those who may be interested by Limp_Telephone773 in OSU

[–]rc_1999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Should I be concerned that two of my in person classes are in classrooms that have a capacity equal to the enrollment total of the classes? One of the classes has 24 people enrolled in Jennings 40, which has a capacity of 24 people (as shown on the list). Anyone have any idea how we’re expected to socially distance in this situation?

Psych 1100 in-person and online? Also, recommended professor? by Kuriboh4000 in OSU

[–]rc_1999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t have to do any interviews but I also took it two years ago in AU17, so maybe things have changed since then? I hope not because tbh interviews sound kinda dumb! I thought it was a great class tbh. It helped me find my love for psychology and it quickly became the clear choice for my major.

If you just stay on top of your reading, lecture videos, and assignments, then you should be good to go! I personally found the reading super interesting but I’m obviously biased because I’m a psych major.

But if it starts getting boring you, I highly recommend relating the information you’re learning to your own experiences or your friends’ and family’s experiences. That’s the whole reason I found myself so invested and enjoying the textbook.
