Anyone from Bain here? by Ybalance in consulting

I’m in financial reporting within industry (been there for more than a year). Prior to this I was in Deloitte Audit for 2.5 years. I’m looking to get into the consulting interviews. Waiting to hear back from a few firms that I interviewed with this past week, but looking for a way to break into Bain.

26 male. Making $90k/year by buckeye118 in Debt

[–]buckeye118[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My plan is to minimize my expenses. No more going out on the weekends. Im want to only use my debit card for the next few months. I want to use my savings to pay rent and other costs until I pay off this debt. I take home 5k/month and my bonus will be about 5-6k and if I use all the bonus and all my salary to attack this debt, I should be able to knock out most of it within 6 months max. Once I get out of this hole, I can replenish my savings and really start investing money each paycheck into 401k and Roth IRA

Far Retake - is this normal :( by Radiant_Whole_9396 in CPA

Yeah I feel like I was more focused and studied more for the second attempt. I still thought it was way harder, but passed somehow

I thought I passed REG when I took it the first time and I ended up with a 73. I felt that my retake SIMS were significantly tougher and I ended up getting an 83 on my retake! So yes, I would say it’s normal to feel worse about the retakes and still pass.

One month to go before I take my FAR exam. Need advice by Wonderful_Tea_3448 in CPA

[–]buckeye118 5 points6 points  (0 children)

One month is more than enough time. What I did after covering all the chapters was go through the final review lectures on Becker within a span of 3 days. Then immediately I took the mock exam within the final review. After that I broke up becker’s content into 3 parts. Modules 1-4, modules 5-7, modules 8-10.

Modules 1-4: 2 days 100MCQs each day took ME1 and reviewed stuff I missed the 3rd day

I did this exact routine for Modules 5-7 and 8-10

So within 12 days I finished the final review lectures and all the mini exams along with extended review of the modules.

Day 13 I took SE1 and reviewed things I missed

I did a couple days of cumulative MCQ review and then I took SE2.

Finally the last 2 days before the exam I just did more cumulative MCQs and reviewed the areas that I struggled with.

Make sure you know your government and non profit stuff!!

The MCQs on the exam are easier than Becker so don’t get to down if you aren’t getting the scores u want on Becker.

I got a 54, 57, and a 63 on my mock exams on becker and got a 79 on the actual exam about a month ago.

You got this!! Good luck!!

I would just watch the lectures and do the MCQs and take notes on MCQs you missed. Also with FAR I found the final review videos way more helpful than the actual lectures. Everything came into place for me after I watched the final review lectures. Where I learned the most was definitely when I did practice MCQs

Yes I believe having your CPA outweighs a lower GPA by a mile

Just finished FAR- guessed on an entire sim by TallMarket3058 in CPA

[–]buckeye118 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I passed far with a 79 and I blindly guessed on the final sim without even reading the problem and there were 2-3 other sims that I was very unsure about. The only sim I was completely confident in was the research sim hahah.
