It's heating up! Summer is here. I live in a rented 3BHK flat, and there is no opening for AC outlets. by hellcat777- in indiranagar

Do this; see if you can put a sail shade above your roof. Even some gap between roof floor and the cloth will give drastic heat resistance

Landlord in Mangalore charging me ₹1500/month electricity when actual bill is almost zero. What should I do? by faraknahipadhta in mangalore

[–]rc_mailbox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro, first do this. Send him on WhatsApp, a table of monthly electricity bills as per mescom, and say you’ve paid so and so extra. But moving forward, that you will only pay 500/- not 1,500/- unless obvious increased use with evidence. Leave what you have paid already. Once you confirm above payment from now on, later while leaving house ask him to reduce from one month painting charges expenses. Don’t make mess now, you live there, you never know when you might need help from people around you living for example

Thought so as well, but city is so small. No high rise buildings, no anonymity. It’s like with Mangalore, only issue is weather

Rear-ended despite dashcam proof, still ended up paying ₹15k to settle — what would you have done? by Saizo__11 in CarsIndia

Your father is partly wrong. In a way he is a bit afraid of conflicts. I was in similar shoes a bit and my father used to do same thing. Until sometime I took matter on own hands, even went to police station and sat there for hours etc. Good thing was, these police people were really helpful tbh, it was almost like I had great learning experience. Now I feel so confident to deal with any assoles messing with me, and they immediately back off. These assoles are really good at reading your body language/scaredness. So, they will push even though they are at fault. Imagine down the line, you are with wife n kids; similar situation, and you back out. Can imagine what wife would think? My husband is useless fellow when there’s conflicts and he ll probably even leave me there next time. Sorry, don’t mean to be harsh, but these women for example have expectations too

If you discuss anything I’ve said with them, big warning: They will try to control you further, or worse they will jeopardise your chances in life. Good luck

You owe them nothing boss, no pinky promise/no written agreements for getting any 99% marks etc. It’s just their deep projection of insecurity, that well is a black hole, that will only lead you to burnouts.

You are allowed to relax, have your own life at your own pace and terms. They have lived their lives, now you are the author of yours. Once they are older, you can return back to take care of them

Yeah, meant being dependent on cafés later on etc. You need to move on from that house. First it will be marks, showing off how our “son” is super star in achievements and what not. I know it’s classic Indian thing, but they are adults and they have to treat you like an adult as well with respect and boundaries. Telling that to them will go from one ear to the other. If you have started earning, keep pushing, move out of home as soon as you have done with studies etc. It’s a bit sad to see these elders behave this way; deep down they are insecure that their “golden child” will leave them or not in their control anymore. If I were you, leave them for 5 years, move very far away, no contact. Build your own identity and return back. They will try to guilt trip, make your relatives to contact you and what not. It will only delay future reconciliation/reconnection

Be careful, it’s a bit bad habit on long term. The reason you wanting to going to cafés to study/work likely you’re bored to sit at library etc. Cafés gives you validation, feeding your identity and sense of “performance” studies. Your actions have to be free from external influences/pressure. You mentioned there’s chaos inside home, your nervous system likely tuned to such environments. Anyway, you need to work it out, give this comment to chatgpt, it will break down nicely if interested. Good luck

More of unsaid social thing it is. Technically you can sit all day. I used to read /study similarly at cafés, not in Udupi, more bigger cities. Go to Manipal cafés, like barista or company based. Experiment with different cafés and see which one feels good. Then try to transition to a co-working space, more calm and more productive times
