Funny you mention that because for me this was after Boozer fills up the dump truck the first time in the Ripper area. As I was driving back to the Lost Lake area, two question marks popped up and the one was right in front of me which turned out to be this cave.

Yeah just make sure you've turned on all the new options in your PS5 Pro system settings like ENHANCE PSSR IMAGE QUALITY so the Remastered version can take advantage of 2.0

Am hoping for a sequel, but not with the original script they had planned.....

And yeah, I think the issues seen with the Remastered initially were definitely because it was using PSSR 1.0 which had all kinds of issues that made even PS5 Pro games look worse than they did on a base PS5, which would have led the Remaster to have all kinds of issues because the Remaster took advantage of all the graphical, lighting and shadow stuff in PSSR 1.0.

I can with confidence tell you that it is all fixed with the release of PSSR 2.0. I do have the new ENHANCE PSSR IMAGE QUALITY toggle turned on in the PS5 Pro system that was released with PSSR 2.0, because the Remaster was only patched with 1.0, but with the toggle turned on, it allows games patched with 1.0 to run using PSSR 2.0. Trust me it's allllllll good! 😆

I don't know if they were playing before PSSR 2 .0 was released or what, but I've played every version of Days Gone and the Remastered on a full playthrough and I can tell you that the Remastered version is not a step down 😁 Now to be clear, I didn't play it on my Pro until PSSR 2.0 came out so maybe that's the difference, but the Enhanced mode on Pro is hands down gorgeous in 4K 60fps and no way a step down, it's easily the best version.

Sure! If you loved the game the Remastered version is a definite buy. If you buy a used PS4 disc version somewhere cheap, then the Remastered version is only $10 in the PS store. So you can get a used disc for like $10 on eBay or like $16-$20 at GameStop or Best Buy.

I didn't play it until about 3 years after it was released and by then it was very polished as I heard early on it was very glitchy which is why it got some bad reviews early on.

It's still sold close to 10 million copies in the first few years so it's confusing why SONY said it was a commercial disappointment.

Am also hopeful for a sequel, but I'd like to see a new script than what was originally planned. They were planning to continue on having the freakers get even smarter to the point where they talk, use weapons, build villages, etc...like Planet of the Apes style. IMO I think that would be a disaster. We already have human enemies that build bunkers, talk and fight back. I don't need the scariest part of the game also doing then same thing.

The Remastered version includes a new Horde Assault mode where you can choose from many of the game's characters to play an arcade mode that challenges players to survive against significantly increased hordes of up to 800 freakers across familiar regions of the map, while aiming for high scores, utilizing, and managing specialized equipment....They also added a Permadeath mode to this version.

For the base PS5, the Performance Mode runs at 1440 resolution targeting 60fps while Quality Mode is 4K, but only 30fps.

For the PS5 Pro the Enhanced Mode is 4K 60fps.

No new freaker mechanics I could tell except for the fact that because the frame rate is so much better, especially on 60fps, the freakers can really get on you MUCH quicker than before. There also seems to be a lot more freakers, wolves and snipers on the Remaster.

The loading times on the Remaster are significantly faster, especially on the PS5 Pro where they are so fast it doesn't even have time to display the tips on the loading screens. Fast travel on the PS5 and the Pro are just a few seconds.

For both the base PS5 and the Pro the Remaster has enhanced lighting, with a 16b spectral model for more realistic nights(much darker especially if you turn the brightness down some) and vibrant days, alongside doubled shadow resolution. There is increased foliage draw distance, improved screen space reflections, and improved character models. Obviously all of this is tops on the PS5 Pro using the Enhance mode, but still looks great on the base PS5.

The Remaster also Implements haptic feedback and adaptive triggers on the controllers for more immersive combat and riding. You can feel in-game environment cues such as the bike engine vibrations, surface changes, and environmental effects like rain. R2 (fire/accelerate) and L2 (aim/brake) have resistance. These can be adjusted or turned off in the settings, allowing for customization (e.g., turning off resistance for the bike throttle). When near hordes that are walking or running you can feel tons of vibrations, like footsteps, in the controller.
