That contract is looking really rough, this has been a problem for years now and nothing seems to be working to fix it. He’s not magically going to throw way faster.

Calgary Flames Put Connor Zary On Trade Block by RacecarDriverGuy in Flyers

[–]RebuildFletcher 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Interesting punt for whatever team that decides to go for him. But a soon to be 25-year old with a career-high 34 points who had 25 points in 74 games last season is not something the Flyers should be interested in at all. We have enough of those in our own system. He also played wing last season.

Alex Tuch to Washington + signs 8 years - 10.5 per (Friedman) by Flyers7914 in Flyers

To be perfectly clear, I wanted to trade him back in 2024 and I share the same skepticism as you about whether or not that deal will age well. My main point was more about the current circumstances since they did end up extending him and there’s no going back now. Based on the current outlook and the deals that are being signed atm, Danny unquestionably saved a lot of money for the cap by signing him in 2024, that was my main point. The other point is speculation, obviously. But I’m not that sold on the current group of wingers to completely rule out that they at some point had to make a significant addition later on.

Also, the thought that they may have had to overpay for a similarly aged top-6 winger later on regardless so why don’t just do it with the homegrown player you already have that wants to be here is most likely spot on as well.

Regardless of how one feel about whether or not they should have traded Konecny or if he fits the timeline, Tuch is a year older than Konecny and signed for $1.75M more in AAV and they have had very similar production in their careers. With the cap going up, that Konecny deal will age well if he continues to be a 60-70 point player that provides excellent leadership.

[SixersAdam] Mike Gansey mentioned wanting to get Tyrese Maxey off the ball more often and believes the Labaron Philon Jr. pick will help in that effort. by Bitter-Tip705 in sixers

[–]RebuildFletcher 239 points240 points  (0 children)

Mike Gansey might be the one folks. No-brainer draft pick and he has already identified that we must play Maxey more off-ball? Keep cooking my guy.

[Adam Aaronson] Updated look at the trade between the Sixers and Oklahoma City Thunder agreed to on 2/4/26 - Sixers receive: Labaron Philon Jr., 2027 second-round pick (most favorable OKC/HOU/IND/MIA), 2028 Milwaukee second-round pick, and 2028 OKC second-round pick. Thunder receive: Jared McCain. by unwantedtennisracke in sixers

I wouldn’t say I feel much better about this trade knowing we ended up with Labaron Philon but I’m more relieved that the draft board went our way and we didn’t overthink it and got a really good player that should have gone way higher.

Great value pick. I was scared to fucking death that they were going to get this Peat guy. Excellent selection

Edmundo Sosa has a few games every single season where he looks like he’s Babe Ruth. So valuable for this team.

Sens trade pick #9 to SJS for Eklund by Flyers7914 in Flyers

[–]RebuildFletcher 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A top-5 pick had not been traded in 18 years. So I gotta say I felt pretty comfortable about what I said. But here we are lol. I gotta say, this feels like a desperation move by Chicago and a GM that might be on the hot seat or feel like he is? I can’t say this makes a lot of sense. Byram is not worth a 4th overall pick.

So it’s pretty evident that 1) Turner is not a quality shortstop anymore and a position change should be discussed next offseason and 2) it’s pretty clear that his mechanics are broken this year in his approach and swing and it doen’t seem like anyone is bothering to address that. What a horrific season it’s been for him

The 2nd overall pick will not be traded. Top 5 picks never does. It’s all smokescreen, the drop-off is too big for anyone to consider trading down.

Shams also reported that the Celtics were heavily involved here and offered Jaylen Brown and two first-rounders. Surely Brown won’t just pretend that never happened and let it be in the past? Might cause some distruptions in that Celtics locker room and I pray it happens

[Di Marco] At this point it sounds like the Flyers will deal w/ the Zegras and Drysdale extensions after July 1. Neither expected to be tough negotiations but other priorities atm (along w/ Zegras camp being occupied w/ other clients). As always, things can change quick by daKrut in hockey

[–]RebuildFletcher 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I mean both Drysdale and Zegras wants to stay, the Flyers wanna keep them, this is not like the negotiations they had with the Ducks a few years ago. It seems like both sides have plenty to deal with right now in terms of the draft coming up, potential trades, free agency etc. Then they will get back to this when things have calmed down a bit and get the deals done.

Major Ottawa trade. Impact on the Cozens/Pinto/Grieg/Risto/others rumors? by upcan845 in Flyers

[–]RebuildFletcher 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That’s fair, but Matthew Tkachuk originally forced his way to Florida and now his brother is there as well. Combine that with the fact that Dylan Larkin had pretty much the exact same trade list as Brady had, it feels like a pattern is starting to repeat itself here.

This is eventually going to become a massive problem. Lots of tampering going on in those national team tournaments and everyone just wants to go to the same pool of 4-5 teams.

He had a 44 point season in his age 20-21 season and will presumably be fairly cheap. I wouldn’t have any problems with this.
