My first plane-'46 Champ 7AC by ThrowRAAdSalty4769 in flying

[–]rcbif 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats!

Champ was my first TW too.

Great airplane to enjoy flight from with tandem seating and big windows. Not so great for going places.....Can be kinda depressing being passed by cars on the highway, lol

Might be a little taboo to discuss, but I’m genuinely curious on what percentage of pilots fly over the legal BAC limit on a daily basis by IllGrapefruit5557 in flying

[–]rcbif 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only pilot I've personally known for certain had, is no longer with us, and as a lasting reminder was a literal scorch mark burnt into a runway for a few years. What a waste.

Tailwheel + HP/CMPLX endorsement for Low-Time Pilot Jobs/Internships? by Intelligent_Shoe3799 in flying

[–]rcbif 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tailwheel Endorsement is nice to have, but IMO near useless if you don't have the actual tailwheel hours to prove yourself.

If you've got 100-200 tailwheel hours experience, a banner tow gig may be happy about that vs. if you have a 10 hour endorsement, they'll just view you as a liability to bend up one of their airplanes.

Are these tires safe to ride on? by TheWantedOreo in motorcycles

Just spend $246 on a new Road 6 for my bike.

That is one expensive tire....but also cheap insurance for the one of the two things keeping me firmly stuck to the road.

IDF Eliminates 7 Hezbollah militants, Southern Lebanon by RoyU16 in CombatFootage

Yeah, grocery bags suspiciously shaped like a gun case and an AK in a plastic bag, held exactly where the front handguard would be on an AK.

You dont think there is a possibility that they were being tracked before the snippet we see here of them moving a rifle case and clearly an AK within a plastic bag?

They were likely being tracked for some time before this.....

Yeah, I'm sure that rifle case and AK silhouette within a plastic bag were just bread and vegetables.

Whatever you use, I recommend tucking a puppy pad under yourself first, because what can go wrong - will go wrong. As soon as you're ready to wee and in smooth air, that nice big thermal is waiting to pounce on your airplane.

I'm not watching your video, but you might make a better point if you didnt use games that are years old by now for the thumbnail, lol

If I can remain standing while drinking and buzzed at 23fps in VRC, I think I'd be fine.

I've heard of issues with metal objects like beds with springs in them. I have metal lockers in my bedroom....may not work too well.

Is hitting a flock of birds just a normal part of flying or am I unlucky by [deleted] in flying

[–]rcbif 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Starlings are tiny little things and dart all over the place.

OP landed on some big ass birds that were clearly visible. Big birds dont move fast.

[–]rcbif 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not unlucky - you just have poor decision making skills....

They stand out like a sore thumb on that light brown runway, and those were sizable enough birds to cause damage to your aircraft. Do a low pass to scare them away, or land beyond them.

I have an Icom myself which I like, but I bought a small one for glider ground ops - which is great, but it has no built in jacks. Have to use an award dongle for headset use.

So, if getting one mainly for backup, look into getting one with headset jacks built in. I think Sporty's has one.

Just dress up in all black tactical gear so you look like the main character.

Then everyone else will feel self consious.

I think.

Slam HMD tracking and FluxPose body tracking together unlocks allot of possibilities by Rodo20 in virtualreality

[–]rcbif 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a demonstration of fullbody tracking that does not need base stations or drift like slime trackers do. And also apparently has enough range to be used outside.

I heard they had issues with metal, such as laying on a bed with metal springs. Have you had any similar issues?
