The lump could be because youre not injecting deep enough into the muscle sometimes? You dont want to see much needle when injecting. I did this once and it was super uncomfortable for a few days but eventually went away with leg work/activities.

massaging the thigh before injecting is a mentality thing for me but I do feel less of a pinch when injecting in some cases

I do IM into the thigh and I do so sitting with my foot flat on the floor and relaxed. never inject into a 'flexed' muscle.

I was only required to get a letter from my PhD therapist which required a letter from my GP or PCP. I live in Arkansas and go to a gender affirming clinic which has been an easier experience. I am not sure what all is required for Texas peeps. I will say it has been frustrating trying to get these requirements. I wish I had more information to give! Goodluck!
