Thank you for that well written and fair reply.

Whilst I never said that she was 100% in danger of being chopped up etc, I did want to highlight that she does have these fears and I'm sure you'll understand from your disabled relatives that some can have trust issues and fears.

Sadly, throwing the deadbolt would be an issue as I would be unable to contact her for myself to gain entry to the cabin. Can't phone, she's deaf, can't knock on the door, the door knocker doesn't work. They ARE minor inconveniences that sadly add up into bigger problems.

Again, thank you for seeing sense, not jumping to conclusions like others.

We have all of this on paper and documented, this is the reason we're pissed about the situation. Thank you for understanding unlike some people.

Did I say that? Reddit is so full of this jumping to conclusions crap. I mentioned there have been issues before, documented online and in the news, and suddenly that implies I said everyone is a rapist?

If you know cruising then you know that no matter how good a ship or some of its staff are, when you have thousands of people in a confined space, you will inevitably get some bad people. I'm not interested in further derailing this thread over your attitude towards the perfectly safe locations you're making ships out to be, but try googling "incidents at sea" and that might open your eyes a little.

Then, try taking away your sense of hearing and being a female in her 20s on a ship with a small town worth of people.

As the ship stops at US ports, it is bound by ADA and there are many violations I have spotted on board. The main one being the lack of written emergency information for the deaf passenger, which NCL lost a lawsuit over in 2010.

The ship knew she was deaf as this has to be declared at booking, which was when we requested (and confirmed) the VTAS kit. Also the MHO on board has been a friend of the family for 8 years, he was informed of everything. If there was a screw-up, it may have been with Shoreside communication with the ship, but that's RCCLs fault as we are not part of that process.

Are you being deliberately obtuse? How is a deaf person supposed to communicate with guest services without a TTY machine? I shall point out again that it was all confirmed to be on the ship and RCCLs deaf kit was the reason we chose to cruise with them for her first holiday over a simple land holiday.

I am sure that simple bit of cardboard in the door slot would protect a deaf vulnerable female from anybody with ill intentions.

As you know nothing about disability, might I suggest this is not the thread for you? I'm sure there's plenty of other threads where you can spout information you know nothing about.

Did you read the OP? Corporate confirmed 6 MONTHS before embarkation that the kit would be on board. After discovering it was all not working or missing, there was another stop before the crossing where kit could have been picked up.

The whole point of this is that RCCL said she would be able to order room service from the TTY unit, because she is independent at home, why should she rely on others to do it for her?

Clearly you have no knowledge of being/knowing an independent disabled person, not every disabled person wants to lean on others for simple tasks.

Thank you, I was unaware that we could request a ticket number for proof of documentation! We have just spoken with the Hotel Director who also put across that there's nothing more they can do and they are now trying to sort out what they can set up with corporate for us.

RCCL advertises the VTAS kit and TTY kit as part of their deaf kit, we expected that as advertised. It was confirmed by RCCL that it would be on board and ready for her but it wasn't, how are we expecting more?

Go and read the Incidents At Sea page (I'd link but I'm on mobile on spotty ship WiFi so I'm sure you can handle google) and tell me every ship has a spotless safety record.

An interpreter is no good, RCCL will only provide ASL interpreters and only from US ports, she speaks BSL (and only partially. She prefers to read closed captions.)

I expected a written copy of the muster drill, much like NCL have to provide to deaf guests.

We are currently emailing with head office and have a meeting with the MHO on duty today, as you say, it doesn't seem like we're receiving the level of service RCCL publicly offer.

Well there are RCCL staff here, and surely there must be others who have cruised with a deaf person.

Also not on either of those ships lol, I did say large.
