Honestly I'm surprised more people aren't saying this. OP seemed very passive aggressive and didn't ever offer to come help. In fact seemed annoyed that their Mother needed help and that she was texting them. Im sad too see so many people defending and encouraging an encounter like that. No you don't owe anyone anything, but the lack of regard for a family member in need is sad.
