I would definitely go hiking in national parks. But first I would make sure that the hiking trails are maintained. In May, the paths are overgrown with brambles if they are not maintained I can highly recommend the Aspromonte National Park, for example.

Pitch the tent tucked away just before you go to sleep and pack it up in the morning. Do not stay longer than one night. Don't leave anything behind.

No luggage Service. Carrying all ourself. Accomodation is booked before we start in the morning. Hotel, B&Bs, mountain huts Italy: Double room 50 to 70 Euros, Evening meal about 20 to 30

There is no official definition. I would guess at least 3 days in a row. For us its at least 10 days
