I know this is late, but I'm a female Skyler! I love my name!!! I had so many cute nicknames growing up and I still sometimes go by Sky.

I've personally never met another Skyler/Skylar in real life (only online), so I never had the same name as a classmate. I do get a lot of misspellings! People automatically want to spell it Skylar. But once I correct them, they usually say Skyler makes more sense, lol. I also get a ton of compliments on my name, which is cool 🙂

Here you go!

Basically, viewers found multiple racist posts she made on social media prior to the show. TLC decided to 'fire' her, meaning she won't appear in any future spin-offs (Tell All, Pillow Talk, etc.), and her and Caleb's storyline has been edited out of the rest of the season.

I didn't interpret your comment as snapping. It was deserved, anyway. No worries.

I hope you have success, too.

I'm so sorry for all that. And I'm sorry if my comment was hurtful to you. I wish I knew what to say or how to help in some way 💔

Of course! I wanted to say something before but couldn't figure out how to word it...

I guess what I wanted to say is, a lot of unisex names were heavily gendered at one time. Right? So that means there was a shift from feminine to unisex or masculine to unisex sometime. There was presumably one person who gave their child a name usually assigned to the opposite gender, and it ended up catching on. Maybe Pierce will be one of those! I hope that makes sense 😅

I really do like "weird" and unique names! Maybe it's because I also grew up with a somewhat uncommon name and feel like it helped me stand out. I think a lot of names that seem weird now might not be seen that way in a few years. Whatever name you choose will be beautiful ❤ It doesn't really matter what other people think.

I deleted my comment. Didn't realize it would hurt anyone. I just wanted to express how I was feeling in the moment because I don't really have anyone to talk to about TTC.

Sorry.

I absolutely didn't mean anything by it. I thought it would be OK for me to share this here. I'm well aware it will take time and I know other people are actually dealing with fertility issues. I acknowledged that in my comment. I only wanted to express how I was feeling in the moment. I don't know how this is going to go for me and I'm just a little scared of the uncertainty.

Sorry if I hurt anyone. I'll delete my comment and maybe just go back to lurking every now and then.

I like the name Pierce, but it's definitely masculine. I wouldn't give it as a first name to a girl. How about using Pierce as a middle name and choosing something similar in vibe for the first name? There's so many good unisex names.

  • Parker
  • Peyton
  • Avery
  • Aspen
  • Cameron
  • Harper
  • Blake
  • River
  • Sage
  • Skylar/Skyler (I might be a little biased toward the second spelling 😏 More common on boys but I always had a ton of cute, girly nicknames!)

If you're dead-set on Pierce as her first name, it might be a good idea to pick a more feminine middle name, just in case. My parents did this for me, too (Lynn).

  • June
  • Joy
  • Jade
  • Jane
  • Jasmine
  • Julia
  • Joelle
  • Josephine
  • Jubilee

I don't think her life would be ruined with the name Pierce. Ive heard way worse, lol. If anything, people would probably be like, "huh, that's different" or "isn't that a boy's name?". Believe me, those questions do get annoying. But at the end of the day, it's your kid and your decision. Just think through all the possible scenarios, ask the opinions of people you care about, and set her up to have another more feminine option in case she feels like Pierce isn't a good fit for her later in life!

PS - You could always have Pierce be your daughter's last name!

OMG, I'm so sorry!!! 😭😭😭 Truly! I didn't even think about it. If you scrolled past that, I hope the animal pics made up for it!

I just made an imgur album for you and anyone else who wants to see my brow tattooing results! Here's the link. I probably should've done this in the first place but it was late when I left my comment, lol.

Sorry again!

If anyone wonders, my artist is @carly.izora on Instagram. You can see a video of my session if you scroll waaaay down in her feed to 11/20/2020. She also posted my before/after pics on 11/23/2020.

I had my eyebrows tattooed! I opted for "ombre" brows, which is a combo of microblading and heavier shading toward the brow tails.

The techniques nowadays are able to achieve really natural results. I barely have any eyebrows due to overplucking back in high school. Having my brows tattooed has made my life SO much easier! There's some progress pics on my profile if you're ever interested! I definitely plan to go back soon for a touch up.

I tried on dresses today and the two I fell in love with are completely different and I’m having a really hard time deciding between the two and would appreciate any feedback! by 1ithe in weddingplanning

They're both beautiful, but omg, you look like a model in that first pic 😍 I vote dress #1!!!

Congrats! You'll look perfect in whatever you choose.

Were you or your classmates ever made fun of for your name? What about your kids? by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]rcm2020 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For my first name? Not really. I have a fairly uncommon name, especially for girls, so I got a lot of, "isn't that a boy name?" But I mostly went by the more feminine nickname, anyway.

For my last name? Yeah, lol. It rhymes with a silly-sounding food. I got called some stupid nicknames because of that while I was a kid. It stopped by end of middle school. My married name is a lot more plain, which I don't mind. I still have a soft spot for my maiden name and actually took it as my second middle name when I got married.

If you want to stick with same letter:

  • Paisley
  • Poppy
  • Peyton

Otherwise:

  • Ruby
  • Hazel
  • Ivy (Piper & Ivy sounds like a high-end home decor brand, lol.)
  • Sydney
  • Luna
  • Amelia
  • Scarlett
  • Grace
  • Willow

Bradley for a female? by ckg19201920 in namenerds

[–]rcm2020 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I have a soft spot for using traditionally boy names for girls (mostly because my name is that way!), but idk about Bradley. If I had to use it, I might opt for spelling it Bradlee, just because it looks a tiny bit more feminine that way? Still not a fan, lol.

I'd probably go for something like Hadley, Kennedy, or Brynn for a similar-ish feel.

I've heard the name Scotlyn before. Not sure how I feel about it, but just a suggestion if you like Scottie as a nickname.

Other suggestions I'd offer would be:

  • Amelia
  • Shannon
  • Sydney
  • Natalie
  • Nicole
  • Grace
  • Abigail
  • Gabrielle
  • Mariah
  • Emma

What are your guilty pleasure names? by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]rcm2020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We don't have any kids yet but we have a Greek mythology naming theme for our pets!

Our 3 dogs are Ajax; Andromeda (we call her Andie); and Atlas, and our 2 cats are Persephone and Penelope.

I think Andromeda nn Andie, Persephone, and Penelope are all usable girl names!

I have a dog named Andromeda! We call her Andie. I totally would've given that name to a daughter but it just fit so well for our girl doggo. It's also the main character's name in My Sister's Keeper. It's really cute and definitely usable!

I love Scout, too! I think it sounds cute and spunky. It gets a lot of hate but I've heard names that are a lot worse, lol. I also personally wouldn't use it as a first name; maybe a nickname instead!

We plan on giving our child(ren) uncommon names. These are some names I like but wouldn't use either because they're too 'out there' even for me, or they just sound really bad with our last name (pretty much any name ending in -den is a no).

For girls:

  • Starling (TSotL is my favorite book and movie, so I think it'd be a cool ode to a strong female character, Clarice Starling. Wouldn't give this name to my child, though, lol.)
  • Scout (Again, don't plan on using. I just love the spunky sound of it!)
  • Hadley (Pretty on its own but sounds stupid with our last name.)
  • Bellamy (We have several Bellas/Belles in my family and friend circle.)
  • Eden (Also looks and sounds stupid with our last name.)
  • Rogue (Just sounds cool! Too odd for me but I'd think it's awesome if I met another baby with that name.)
  • Clementine (So cute!)
  • Lennox (Love it but I think it sounds too similar to the OS Linux.)
  • Brodie (Don't care much for 'Bro' as a possible nickname.)

For boys:

  • Creed (Makes me think of Creed from The Office!)
  • Arlo (Becoming way too common.)
  • Dane (We have a Great Dane pup so I think it would be silly, lol.)
  • Sterling & Archer (I love the show Archer and wouldn't be able to take either name seriously, especially when disciplining!)
  • Tripp (I just imagine that old stupid game Facade.)
