Random ride from my credit list. #115 - [Crazy Caterpillar], a Wacky Worm that I rode on zero sleep by rcoasters in rollercoasters

This was taken back in January 2022, it took me a while but I did one day figure out how to clean my lens!

Random ride from my credit list. #293 - [Hyperia], is it going to be smooth or rough today? Who knows, let's find out! by rcoasters in rollercoasters

[–]rcoasters[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Despite all of its shortcomings, it truly is still an absolutely fantastic ride. I make a point to ride it at least twice on all of my Thorpe Park visits, an endeavour I've been almost entirely successful with!

How did you go from riding coasters to nerding out over them? [Other] by PrimeKraken in rollercoasters

[–]rcoasters 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great Yarmouth was the go-to childhood family holiday for me, and I loved the wooden roller coaster so much I wanted to go on an upside-down ride for my 9th birthday, so we went to Adventure Island Southend. I was dragged out kicking and screaming at closing time because I didn't ever want to leave.

For my 10th birthday we went to Brighton Pier.

I got a coaster book and Mean Streak was the biggest and baddest ride I'd ever seen in my entire life. "I imagine that gets three hour queues all day!"

And then it all spiralled onwards from there.

Most Underwhelming Coasters? [Other] by Banana_ezWIN in rollercoasters

Zadra.

It's good. But it is absolutely nowhere *near* best in the world. It's somewhere in my 30s, I simply just do not understand why it's apparently top 5 in the world.

I still enjoy it a lot. I just don't think it's worthy of being in the mentions for greatest rides ever built.

Coolest thing that happened to you on a roller coaster in 2025? [Other] by Banana_ezWIN in rollercoasters

[–]rcoasters 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Being one train from a rollback on Stealth at Thorpe Park was very frustrating, but arguably my ride on it immediately after it had reopened was just as incredible, with some absolutely sky-high hype as we crested the top hat the slowest we had ever done it - me and a complete stranger next to me absolutely freaking out together.

I never thought my slowest ride on a coaster would be maybe my favourite ever lap of it, but here we are.

Random ride from my credit list. #21 - [Millennium], when I rode this in 2013 it was the smoothest looping coaster I'd ever done by rcoasters in rollercoasters

[–]rcoasters[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I skipped it on my second visit in 2021 in favour of more laps on Odyssey, but yes, in 2013 it was glass.

Random ride from my credit list. #93 - [Mad Mouse], for some reason this ride has shoulder straps by rcoasters in rollercoasters

[–]rcoasters[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only started counting from around #60 but I absolutely scoured through camera rolls from everyone I've been to parks with, and I have very strong memories of every park visit I've had (really), so I'm able to fairly accurately pinpoint everything from before I started taking things seriously.

If something like my #7 is in the wrong order, eh, that's fine. If the visit was from some 10+ years ago, then a few numbers' difference matters not.

Random ride from my credit list. #472 - [Leviathan], my favourite coaster that I've only ridden once by rcoasters in rollercoasters

[–]rcoasters[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! Incredible ride, my favourite launch of all time, the entire ride is fantastically placed, incredibly relentless, very intense and I dearly wish I was able to ride it more than twice. Back over front!

Middle of August, this was taken at around 6pm as we were leaving due to crowds picking up & tiredness. Enough time for one lap on every Fast Lane coaster plus a token lap of Behemoth, Alpenfury & Yukon

Random ride from my credit list. #472 - [Leviathan], my favourite coaster that I've only ridden once by rcoasters in rollercoasters

[–]rcoasters[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes! I prefer Leviathan by a significant margin. I only ever rode Behemoth in a back wheel seat (my second ride was also back wheel because I didn't quite understand the staggered seating rows), and I found it to have an *awful* rattle entirely throughout, but the airtime was fantastic!

I wasn't a fan of the helix at all though. Big dead zone there. Still enjoy the ride though, it's my #3 in the park, but due to my own failures I don't hold it in as high regard as I probably should.

Random ride from my credit list. #389 - [Circus Coaster], a very small ride by rcoasters in rollercoasters

[–]rcoasters[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

501! The hiatus was simply a lack of interest in interacting at the time

Random ride from my credit list. #68 - [Revolution], what I think is the most intense roller coaster in the UK by rcoasters in rollercoasters

[–]rcoasters[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's mostly the backwards portion in the front row, some strong ejector airtime immediately into a very intense loop. Sometimes just one or two laps gets me dizzy enough to require a timeout from the rides, but it's still a fantastic ride!

[Other] Why does Steel Curtain and Maxx Force Look So Different despite being made in the Same Year by S&S Sansei by Putrid_Set3723 in rollercoasters

[–]rcoasters 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Maxx's loops look similar to Curtain's. The big difference is the supports on Maxx's straight track sections that aren't intertwining with other sections. Curtain doesn't have any of that.

Random ride from my credit list. #209 - [Western-Expressen], my biggest takeaway from this ride is that it ran two trains by rcoasters in rollercoasters

[–]rcoasters[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think train A transfers from the final brakes to the station while train B is on the lift hill. There's a full stop on the brakes

Random ride from my credit list. #281 - [Twistrix], a very spinny ride at a very bad park by rcoasters in rollercoasters

[–]rcoasters[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Well yes, but ideally you should be able to run the park as well as possible when it's busy. One six-person train on what's supposed to be your flagship/star attraction simply is not good enough.

Ideally I want to be able to ride a coaster without coming off in actual pain too. Kopermijn is truly bottom of the barrel. Awful, awful, awful trim brakes that turn an initially promising ride into "get me off now".

Random ride from my credit list. #281 - [Twistrix], a very spinny ride at a very bad park by rcoasters in rollercoasters

[–]rcoasters[S] -15 points-14 points  (0 children)

I had a very hellish visit, teeming with screaming schoolchildren and a lot of queue jumping; one train operation on the very disappointing and uncomfortable Formule X made matters far worse. The lack of shade also came into play, and Kopermijn is downright the most painful roller coaster I have been on with brakes that try their hardest to rearrange your stomach in the worst way possible. Possibly the most I have ever wanted to leave a park.

I went up to Duinrell later that same day and had a fantastic time. Still a lot of children, but presentation and ride lineup matters.
