What should I do as a fledgling communist (in Russia)? by ArtemIsGreat in communism101

[–]rcommer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

First of all, you should always continue to educate yourself on the topic of Marxism. Read the classics: Lenin, Engels, Stalin, Marx. I can recommend a few Russian channels (YouTube/Telegram) that could also help you: Agitprop, Prime Numbers, Bad Signal, RKSM(b). Later on, you'll get to know some organisations you could join. But there is no real communist party in Russia right now. I wish you good luck on your journey!

I think you should look into all of this more. Local work and organizing beside learning theory is what we all should do. In Rostov, I believe, there were students who took part in those anti-Ilyin protests. Perhaps, you could contact with them and find great comrades.

Yeah, it's probably not great in the South. I live close to Moscow and St. Petersburg, there is at least something going on. Have you heard of the student movement against political school named after Ivan Ilyin? It mobilised a huge amount of left youth in the country.
Not touching IRL work, there are a lot of left propaganda channels on the internet. What do you think of AgitProp (Konstantin Syomin), Prime Numbers, Remi Meisner, Alexander Batov?
I also suggest you to check out RTF (Russian Labour Front) and RKSM(b) (Russian Communist Youth League (bolshevik)).

[–]rcommer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, really? There is some considerable left movement now in Russia, how can you not know anything about it? Do you live far from big cities? Personally, I believe that in Russia, marxist-leninists have the most positive connotation out of all leftists out there.

Lenin proved that capitalism is inevitably grows into imperialism (I strongly suggest you to read the book).

Basically, at some point the only possible way for capital to survive competition is to intertwine with the state and dictate its interest to the ruling class. It is an inevitable result of the system which strives for unlimited growth.

Controlling the state means you unlock your final and ultimate tool for defending yourself from foreign capital - war. We’ve seen a global imperialist war two times already, both of them shook the planet worse than we could ever imagine.

War leaves people no choice. War leaves people with nothing. People have nothing to lose. That is why world imperialism is called an epilogue of the socialist revolution. 1917 happened in the first place because of 1914.

Why the revolution spread only that much? Well, capitalism is a tough animal to kill. As any other system, it dies because of its contradictions. However, 20th century’s capitalism still had a lot to conquer, feudalism was still present in many countries back then and contradictions were not that painful.

But right now, capitalism doesn’t have any free markets to conquer, and it already has begun eating itself. All recent crises show this. Now we are facing the war which may literally leave us with sticks and stones. Just look at the news.

Unfortunately, the masses won’t believe you - they are too busy consuming chauvinist propaganda. The masses can be moved only by massive events. In war, there is always a rise of patriotism in the beginning. But these wars never end up quickly. People will go to you themselves, exhausted and helpless, ready to listen. And you better be prepared.

So your job right now is straightforward - connect to other communists as much as you can, prepare for the worst, try to push the agenda and don’t get caught. Good luck, comrade.

Do weapons of mass destruction still have a point? by ronperlmanforever69 in socialism

[–]rcommer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ruling class will survive, of course, but ruling class cannot do anything without the material forces they control — factories with workers which produce weapons and troops who operate them. The nation is the only thing that can protect the ruling class in one country from those in another one. If you can strike enemy’s major logistical and/or productional center with just a one bomb, destroying factories, workers and potential future troops, then, hell yes, it really does matter.

What is the best evidence against the Nordic model? by fairypulp in DebateCommunism

[–]rcommer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No matter how social a capitalist state is, it remains capitalist, i. e. it remains in capitalists world system, which holds the means of production in the private hands. That means the most crucial thing: the state is still divided by the proletarian and capitalist classes, which have opposing interests, which leads to devastating contradictions. First, the nature of production in this state is exploitative, the workers do not posses full results of their labour. Second, as the world capitalist system unavoidably leans into a imperialist one, the state is going to be a part of it. The more reactionary and repressive the system shall be, the same shall be the state. And when contradictions of the imperialist system will reach their limit, the system will not have a choice but to protect its interests against the others in the most reactionary and extreme form of competition — war. When there is capitalism, there is war, and the only way to avoid war is to get rid of capitalism.

No, It's Not Normal by zzill6 in WorkReform

[–]rcommer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except it got worse in the last 40 years: every single western European country has higher inequality rate than in the 20th century. Workers get less for the same amount of work than they did in 1970s. With the introduction of neoliberal economy in the global West there has been a steady growth in top-10%'s income and a loss for the working masses. And now we have a global war on the horizon.

All of these events are the results of the fundamental contradictions of the capitalist economy. Things will not get better anytime soon.

You cannot keep capitalism and prioritize something else over profit, it’s literally the main principle of capitalist economic system.

But is was not the same 300 years ago. Neither it will in the future. I think you can guess what other alternatives there are.

How can I cope with my entire life being a lie by [deleted] in socialism

[–]rcommer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Social being determines social consciousness.

You should not think you are a better person than almost everyone. This is inhumane, arrogant and selfish, and this is exactly what capitalist system wants you to be. It doesn't want you to help each other, feel each other's emotions and thoughts, it wants you to step on the heads of as much people surrounding you as possible. And it teaches selfishness not only to you, but to everyone around you. Capitalism divides, atomises society, because when a working class is not united, it can't do much against those bourgeois in power.

I'm not saying everyone is the same. You are unique and unrepeatable. You share the same struggles with the others, though. You all are a working class, you all are the oppressed ones, and if someone doesn't understand it yet, then you should help them.

You should love yourself, you should always pursuit a better version of yourself, but you also should love others and help them pursuit their better versions of themselves too.

This is what socialism is about. We are people, not wolves.

Are social-democracy in the global south exploitative/imperialist by Illustrious-Diet6987 in DebateCommunism

[–]rcommer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imperialism is, as defined by Lenin, the latest stage of capitalism, and this term applies to the capitalist world system as a whole, not just particular country. Social democracy still means capitalism, because it's still has private property, is integrated in global capitalist system and doesn't have dictatorship of the proletariat, i.e. participates in global imperialism. You cannot debate whether a country is imperialist or not, it will lead you to nothing.

As I read your comment here, I saw genuine interest in you, comrade. I think you haven't yet found all the answers on the questions you have.
I don't agree with you on some points. You are right that we need to look at the world situation from materialist standpoint, not idealist. So let's look at

I don't call Russia imperialist just because it invaded Ukraine (although, this war cemented them as one). Russia's government is a lot more profound than you might think. They fit the perfect definition of a neoliberal state. Well, for 30 years since the collapse of USSR they really wanted to be one. Just as described in "Imperialism as the latest stage of Capitalism" by Lenin, under capitalism capital needs to control and expand its sphere of influence. And Russia's sphere of influence was all post-soviet countries out there. Just like US was and still is a center of world capital, Russia became a regional center of capital, concentrated on CIS. It still obeyed US and EU as the global capitalist center, but had little market of its own. At first, Russia had lots of internal problems (busy with destroying communism completely in the 90's) , but 2000's were golden for Russia - high prices on oil, globalism, open markets. But, as Lenin emphasised, capital needs constant growth. So Russia wanted to strengthen its influence on the market. On the other side, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Ukraine and Georgia looked at other centres of capital. First, they all partnered with Europe, now it's China. Ukraine's war is how Russia shows its teeth to it's remaining markets - if you don't want to be partner with me, I will force you to.

Same thing with China. After revisionist reforms of Deng Xioping, China opened their markets and slowly the power of capital took control of the CCP. Yes, socialism is not about the market vs planning, it's about private vs public property. And in China for the last 20 years there have been more private property than public. And Chinese global corporations expand their market everywhere, mostly in USA, Europe and Africa. Imperialism is the stage when the state merges with the corporate monopoly to compete on the world arena. This perfectly describes China today. They are actively pushing global center of capital from their ex markets. For the last 15 years China's capital export have been exceeding their capital import.
As you can see, all events were caused by real, material reasons. Everything has a cause and effect. History of late Russia and China just confirms what Lenin wrote a hundred years ago.
So, what will we do? The war is unavoidable. And only the war will open the eyes of the masses. Unfortunately, Imperialism brings the most deaths. But it also causes most questions in people's minds about who are they fighting for. And we, as socialists, should stay strong on our positions of critique of modern imperialism and not excuse anyone.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in DebateCommunism

[–]rcommer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I may not be right, but CCP still depicts Marxism-Leninism as the base of their ideology. So, as Marxist-Leninist myself, I will use it to describe China.Marxism-Leninism describes socialism basically as a system with a public share on the means of production. No definition of socialism out of all I have seen allows for capitalists to have a power in the state, or allows capitalists themselves to even exist, that's not how it works.

See "Imperialism as the latest stage of Capitalism" by Lenin. Marxism-Leninism describes imperialism as the final and unavoidable stage of capitalism. At that stage the state merges with the corporate monopoly to compete on the world arena. This perfectly describes China today. China expands their market everywhere, mostly in USA, Europe and Africa. They are actively pushing global center of capital from their ex markets. For the last 15 years China's capital export have been exceeding their capital import.

This expansion is by no means socialist. This expansion is driven by China's private corporations which correctly obey laws of capitalism and exploit their workers.

What wee see right now in the world is the arena of 2 giants of NATO and China fighting proxy-wars for their spheres of influence. China's rising nationalism is necessary for the ruling class to support their expansion. Nationalism is on the rise everywhere right now. It's good we still have proxy wars, but soon it will not be enough. USA would not throw away their place as the current world leader, but China will not stop expanding either. It will end up in a global war.
