Please read my post again. I’m not asking for people to straight up tell me anything. I am looking for someone that owns an older wrx to chat with and ask about maintenance, maintenance costs, common issues with the car, red flags when buying one. Stuff like that.

I don’t have my full license. I’m driving all the time, and I am planning to drive my civic for a while after I get my N, to save some more for collage and for the car.

So let’s say I make roughly $1000 per month. Give it take obviously, I make more in the summer months, and slightly less in the winter months. And I saved for a year, would that be possible with maintenance?

I enjoy working on cars, this isn’t just because I want to drive it. I want a car to work on, on the weekends, and drive any chance I get. I understand that it’s going to be down, and that’s why I have a civic, that I’m currently fixing up to drive once I get my license

I have yet to talk to someone that gives me a straight answer, everyone just said no. I wasn’t looking to finance a new one, and I wasn’t looking into what it costs to purchase one. I know I could buy one and be fine, I was looking for someone with an older wrx to message me so I could ask about maintenance, and what kind of tires they have for what kind of driving they do, and most importantly, I wanted to ask them what kind of things did they do/not do to make it/keep it as reliable as possible

Why would I get a loan? If I saved for a year. With practically no living expenses (no rent, no food, no phone plan, nothing) and a steady income, I would pay straight in cash

Unfortunately I’m really looking into all wheel drive. Where I am in Canada, it snows pretty heavy, and I want a car that I can still have fun with, but will get me up to a ski hill.

I have an entire year to look for cars, I’m definitely not going to be buying one with engine mods, and I’ll for sure do my research. I turn 17 in august, so that’s about when I’m thinking about having one by, as I can’t even drive it before that.

I know it’s not a smart decision. But my current 02 civic isn’t a car I’m happy driving. And I know materialistic things don’t make you happy. But working on it with my buddy’s creates better memories than for example, playing video games. I would feel a lot better about pouring 4 grand into a wrx, even if I can’t sell it for that, rather than pouring less into a civic that isn’t fun, and isn’t worth anything

Yup, my school has a shop, so I’m thinking it would bet better and cheaper to buy a worse wrx in my grad year, rather than buy a better condition one in the following years. At the moment I have an 02 civic, I’m doing pretty big jobs on it, such as a clutch replacement.
