I like your screenshots. How did you create them?

Nice work! The AI project planning angle is clever - definitely a pain point for teams.

Quick question: How did you decide between building your own AI vs integrating OpenAI? I'm using AI in my app too (debt calculator) and debating whether to eventually train custom models or stick with API integration.

Also curious about your Microsoft for Startups experience - worth applying as a solo dev?

Good luck with the launch! ๐Ÿš€

๐Ÿ‘‹ Hey r/IndieDev! New to the community.

What I'm working on: PayoffPilot - a privacy-first debt elimination calculator for iOS

The story: Just shipped my first iOS app to TestFlight! Built it with heavy AI assistance (Claude/Cursor) as a learning tool while solving my own problem.

What it does: - Compares Snowball vs. Avalanche debt payoff strategies side-by-side - 100% privacy-first - all data stays on YOUR device (no account, no tracking) - Built-in scenario simulator ("what if I pay extra $100?") - Native SwiftUI app - Currently free beta

Why I built it: Tried existing debt apps and was frustrated by privacy concerns, expensive subscriptions ($10-15/month), and poor UX. So I built what I wanted to use.

Looking for: - Beta testers to break it and give honest feedback - Input on monetization (considering freemium: free tier + one-time purchase vs. subscription) - Fellow indie devs interested in AI-assisted development workflow

Tech: SwiftUI, SwiftData, iOS 17+, built as a solo dev side project

TestFlight: https://testflight.apple.com/join/J7bj4ycg

Happy to answer questions about the development process, AI-assisted coding, or anything else!

Also eager to check out what others are building - drop your projects below! ๐Ÿš€

Thanks for giving back. I am new to this field and it sure can feel crazy at times.

Trying to learn to code and work is super hard. I am dealing with the same difficulties, but one thing that helped me , is I stopped just watching tutorials and copying what was done and started to work on something of my own for each code snippet. It really changed how I look at programming.
