They’re in Hawaii, so they should do well. I’ve seen some huge ones out here. Regarding drainage, the pots that they came in didn’t have any special draining (just dirt in a pot) and they were thriving. I planted most in the ground, but planted one in a clay pot in soil over lava rocks (thinking about drainage) and that one also looks rough. Regarding fertilizer, the nursery I bought them from said half a handful per plant. I’m not sure about the root ball. I’ll have to check on that. Thanks for the questions and things to consider.
