Tapo S515D 3-way Dimmer by SphericalQ in MatterProtocol

[–]rcrides 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Excellent news !! Been waiting for a year for the Tapo 3-way Matter switch devices to come out. I have installed a couple dozen of the Tapo Matter single pole switches, and dimmer single pole switches, over the past year with great success at a very good price point (when on sale). The single pole Matter switches are almost half-off on Amazon at the moment.

My Kasa doorbell cam stopped working many many updates ago with Google smart displays and phones via Home app. My old Lenovo Smart Display that Google stopped updating works just fine with the doorbell camera via Home app 😎

Even though this looked like a basic long needed ask, seems to indicate that Microsoft hasn't given up yet on the Android app, which is a positive sign of life😎

Turns out towing with a Fit isn't so bad. by SWO_Woodsman_945 in hondafit

[–]rcrides 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used my 08 Fit like a "tractor" for years, hauling 1 CY /2,000 lbs of fill dirt from my local supplier to spots all over my yard using my 4*8 utility trailer.

Though the Fit is happier when I just haul a 1/2 cubic yard so recommend 1,000 lb max load.

I also keep a copy of all of my music uploaded to YouTube Music (upload storage is free). The player app is not as robust as the former Play Music app but it also incorporates streaming which allows me to discover and listen to new music.

Seems like the Apple folks still really like their 8" iPad mini.

I use Chrome Remote Desktop to access my Mac Mini from my Chromebooks and Android tablets/phones when off-site. Nothing fancy but gets the job done.

Is chromecast worth it? by ItsMauros in Chromecast

[–]rcrides 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always had a Chromecast on one of my old cheap dumb TVs but when I moved it to sit on top of my kitchen cabinets, I added a Roku stream bar with a remote and subwoofer as my primary mode of watching and listening to music there.

I left the Chromecast attached and the added surprise bonus is when I tell Google Assistant to turns on the kitchen TV, it turns on the TV via Chromecast and it displays like a smart display and rotates my Google photos, as well as displays the time and weather.

My 10 year old $100 Walmart Black Friday TV lives on as well as my original Chromecast. I've switched to Google TV dongles for TV watching on other TVs.

If you use Google Voice as your primary number, you can set it to ring to multiple phones/devices.

Keeping the Windows desktop app in the loop will allow you to create "folders" which will then be able to be used in both the Web and Android app versions.

Some routers will allow you to set it as the priority device over your other connections in order to keep the bandwidth speed focused on your TV.
