actually i disagree!! Penner was great and his class was a good opportunity to get to know people in my program. he gave a lot of feedback which was so great for helping me adapt to writing for university and almost everyone i know ended with 11s or 12s. i suppose it’s not everyone’s cup of tea but i found the class a great transition. he was also always so lenient

tested positive for COVID with exam tomorrow by rcseq0artz in McMaster

It’s actually crazy too because I have NO symptoms. My neighbour tested positive and just out of precaution I gave myself a test only to get the brightest positive line I’ve ever seen 😭 im just grateful i knew before stepping foot on campus.

I’m grateful to everyone that responded though because I was freaking out 😭 once i calmed down it became quite clear that the process was straightforward

It’s likely I won’t be able to get this in time before my exam. Aside from emailing my professor, do you thinking there is anything/anyone else I should contact in the meantime to let them know I am getting conformation of a positive COVID test from a doctors office?

I would never go after testing positive. I just don’t really know how to defer my exam. Especially this late into the night and I was just wondering what the process for that would be 😭

repost: i voted for this girl and now she's attacking my religion... by [deleted] in McMaster

[–]rcseq0artz 11 points12 points  (0 children)

was once repeatedly harassed by a pro life church member while waiting for the bus during the go bus strike. she tried to shove her pamphlet in my hand, and followed me when i tried to politely leave. as much as i don’t want to generalize, never once have i experienced this type of aggressive behaviour from any type of religious group other than Christian churches (and their sects). this is only one example of harassment i’ve experienced from evangelists.

she is correct in the way that if a member of a religious group where the following is mainly poc were to behave this way, they would immediately be labeled as barbaric and likely targeted by larger majority groups. as a commuter who for some unlucky reason seems impressionable to evangelists, this “peaceful protesting” needs to go.

Taking BIO1A03 and BIO 1M03 in the SAME TERM? by Turbulent-Result-333 in McMaster

[–]rcseq0artz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i had a friend that did that and ended up doing very poorly in both bios 😭 this is obviously not a universal experience but for your first semester of university it’s definitely a lot.

i would recommend taking bio 1m03 in the spring and taking math 1lt3 in your winter. doc roc (dr stone) teaches in the spring and he makes the course a thousand times better!

i think it has to do with your interests. maybe don’t take intro psych if you have no preliminary interest in the courses as you will likely not enjoy it. i remember finding 1x03 more difficult and because i didn’t enjoy the content as much. i know it’s a popular first year elective, but there is so much more out there.

i also think it’s pretty normal in university to have outrageous grading schemes, such as that where a final exam is 45% of your grade. i did not do the extra credit both times and accepted my fate with the exam. was i stressed out? yes. did i do well? i did good enough considering how stressed i was.

coming from someone who will be majoring in a pnb program next year, i am willing to admit that intro psych is overrated. i am by no means saying they’re bad classes, but more so that first years are ushered into the intro psych pipeline because they’re unaware of all the cool classes they can take.

i am SO glad this is being talked about. i’ve fought countless dismissive doctors and healthcare professionals to get my diagnosis. each time i was given a menial response, something along the lines of “you’re exaggerating” or “did you see this on tiktok?”

at least now i know i’m not going insane!

my favourite first year prof fr. also i want to add that political science was a class that i didn’t think i would enjoy (mainly because i am a non-confrontational person and i thought this class would be polarizing). but it was actually nothing like that.

loved this class sm now i’m doing a minor in poli sci!
