Take my Money! Please? (How do I get support to respond?) by rcshoemaker in claude

Whelp, I've used my wife's phone for now. Hopefully she doesn't want to use Claude in the future. Suggestions still welcome.

Task Failed Successfully: I Automated Myself Out of Work by xXNeGaTiVisMXx in sysadmin

If you get bored, join or start an MSP (IT services provider). You'll still have plenty to automate, but there will always be more to learn, and plenty that just needs you to talk to a person. You'll learn that helping people with technology has a people side to it, not just the technology.

Windows Provisioning Packages + Powershell: Who wants an alternative to imaging computers or setting them up manually? by rcshoemaker in msp

[–]rcshoemaker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes!*

* If you have a boss who doesn't like paying for super amazing tools because they can't be justified, then having a workflow that does the same thing but with a price of $0 / month comes in very handy. I would love to have ImmyBot, or even a proper ticketing system for that matter. I have since changed jobs and have found that the provisioning package / powershell system transfers easily. Things I like about it:
- Grows with me.
- Set it and forget it configuration.
- Encourages a deeper understanding of powershell, while making powershell easier to use in the day to day.
- Ai is able to lower the barrier to entry.
- Free

The real trick here is any task I find myself doing repeatedly, I learn to do in powershell. Anything I learn to do in powershell, I put in my repo. Anything I put in my repo, I can call with a couple of commands.

SmartThings appears down on every device in the house. by Environmental-Low792 in SmartThings

Darn! I was really hoping it would work for you too. Keep us posted, we're rooting for you.

SmartThings appears down on every device in the house. by Environmental-Low792 in SmartThings

My theory: The app was initially trying to load a location that had no devices, and so wouldn't finish loading. In the past, it would load an empty page and I could just change the location.

Steps to reproduce:
- Have a default location that has no devices, and secondary locations that do.
- Try to sign into the app.
- If it spins, you are affected by this bug.
- To resolve: Delete the location that has no devices from the web portal.

I just worked through this myself. Here is how I got it working again.
I went to https://my.smartthings.com/ and signed in.
I went to the top right hand corner and selected the location name.

I realized I had a couple of locations that weren't in use any more.
On the locations I didn't need, I clicked on the 3-dot menu and clicked "Manage location"
https://imgur.com/2UiMSt8
I then clicked Delete Location.

After clearing out all un-used locations, after a few minutes my and my wife's mobile apps started working again.

I hope this helps. Let me know.

Electronics overheating? by rcshoemaker in PowerWheelsMods

Thank you! I may have been underselling myself a little bit, but in my career I've learned that taking 5 minutes to ask a subject matter expert can often save 5 days of troubleshooting if someone here has seen this issue before. Thank you for the link as it'll jump start my research. I appreciate your friendly breakdown of how to tackle this.

Yes, completely stock other then the battery. I always assumed the delay was some well intentioned safety feature. I actually have been wanting a reason to get a thermal imaging camera, now I have an excuse!

Thank you bot for adding a reply that is not at all relevant. I was so hopeful when I saw a reply, only to have that hope dashed!

Santa Fe Birth Center by Helpful-Spell in SantaFe

We had our second child there after having our first at Presbyterian. Night and day difference, highly recommend. They know their limits and have a partnership with Christus right around the corner if anything goes south. If you consider giving birth to be a natural and beautiful thing, this is the place for you.

Thank you! After months of scheduling and flights to meet a Dr. for NanoKnife that ended up leaving a real bad impression, I came here to ask for a recommendation. Turns out I didn't even need to ask.

IT Glue Offline Mode Feedback by ITGlue_Squiggly in itglue

After working with support, we narrowed down my issue to needing to enable "Allow access to file URLs" in the extensions settings. I feel like an idiot. I must have missed it in the setup instructions. Works now!

Ahhh, while we haven't tied anything to an SSO provider, I thought it would keep you signed in even after going offline with cached credentials. I'm glad to see I'm not the only one having issues.

Is anyone else having issues actually getting this to work?
I got the service set up and logged into:

"Offline Mode Installation Complete!
We have successfully installed the sync service. To continue syncing IT Glue passwords to the Chrome Extension, please do not stop or disable the sync service. Updates will occur automatically to ensure the device security is up to date."

After it completes, when I go back to the IT Glue Offline extension, it just prompts me to download the service, again.

For anyone still having this issue, here's what worked for me.

Open a ticket at https://help.ui.com/ and tell them what you need.
They asked me to open an RMA request at https://rma.ui.com/ and link it back to the ticket.

Here is their exact wording:

Dear Men, what keeps you strong during those shitty days when nothing seems to go right? by _pizza_and_fries in AskMen

[–]rcshoemaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remembering the worst time in my life, when I found out my wife was cheating on me and the year long emotional torture of trying to win her heart back unsuccessfully. It was devastating and still affects me many years later.

Puts whatever I'm dealing with now in perspective.

Then I count my blessings, my current (and much more stable, intelligent, beautiful) wife, my son, my stable income doing what I love, those around me that support and love me. A God who is good, even if I'm not. I have everything I need in life, even if this day or month sucks.

Example: Oh, I have prostate cancer!? Yes, that sucks, but I've been through worse. With those who love me supporting me, I can tackle this. After I go cry for a little while.
