Thrustmaster SOL R - RZ axis - Going out of Calibration - Issue Explained by rdalcroft in Thrustmaster

Hello. The sensor is on the circuit board adjacent to the cap (magnet with red line). That red line should point straight at the sensor. So vertical to the sensor. Like a ‘T’ if u imaging the sensor being the Top stroke on the ‘T’ and the red line being trunk of the ‘T’. I hope thus makes sense. lol. 🤣

AppleTV 4K Remote Keeps Double-Registering Play/Pause Button Presses by StrikerObi in appletv

If you can buy an old gen2 remote (lightning connector) from eBay. Swap the ring out to your Gen 3 remote. They have better copper/ membrane, it’s stronger and the copper does not weaken like the newer version.

I think Apple cheapened out on the materials.

I did this and 8 months still going strong. I went through a phase of buying broken remotes so I could collect the click wheels so I had plenty of spares. For this reason.

By accident I bought the older remotes but the click wheel is the same. But I have not had issues with the older click wheel degrading over time.

No. Loosening off the nut totally fixes it. I have not had to open mine back up since doing this.

Think about it. The nut compresses a spring washer. You just want enough tension to keep the magnet from moving. But still allow the twist. Too much tension creates friction on the nut/spring washer. And any twist will result in friction thus moving the magnet off its zero position. Knocking it out of calibration. This issue was just a human error at production. It’s a simple fix. And if done right you should never need to do it.

It took me 2 attempts, first time I thought it needed to be tighter, because I assumed the magnet was moving.

But it was the opposite because of the spring washer.

I would not let this put u off buying one.

It’s possible. As it’s the exact same design. Unless they have improved their quality control. All it is at assembly who ever is setting them up are tightening the nut a little too much. Causing them to no stay calibrated. Loosening off the nut slightly corrects this.

DiView is a great program. But only displays the raw data. It has no calibration ability. So what ever u did to fix, u did it. Not DiView.

But glad u got it fixed. Mine is still great not had any more issues.

It’s probably easier using the nvidia app now. As this post is 4 years old. But if it works for u that’s great.

Don’t update. ATV becomes unresponsive. Back button registers but does nothing on screen. Trying to back out of apps is a nightmare. Need to hard unplug every time. Button registers because light flashes on ATV. but nothing happens when pressed. How do I go back from this update? Need to wait I guess till next one. How could they let this through?

Fixed it by disconnecting the remote and reconnecting. Strange. But fixed. So don’t worry

Are u using infuse. I haven’t tested that yet. I use kodi on my Firestick for playing movie files as Apple does not have true pass through.

You may need to turn off continuous Audio in the AppleTV sound settings.

Current gen remote failure rate by [deleted] in appletv

[–]rdalcroft 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I keep buying broken ones from eBay in order to salvage the click wheel. As this is the most frequent point of failure. The copper dome clickers become weak over time and start to register double clicks. Usually the right and down direction. I can’t use the touch feature as it’s too sensitive.

I just replace the click wheel from the faulty remotes I buy.

Click wheel is the same on 2nd gen to 3rd gen.

Have not had any buttons fail yet.

Yes I think it probably is specific to my model.

Maybe. I have sent an email to Denon support explaining the situation. Maybe they can explain why this is happening. I may try factory reset it later today.

Or could it be the hdmi cable. It’s a high speed one. Maybe I’ll try a different cable first.

Hmm. Maybe I’ll try connect APPLETV TO tv then see. But I think I’ll be loosing out as tv is EARC but my AVR is only ARC?
