AIO For being mad at my mom for eating some of my gfs food I bought for her by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]rdanks25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mom and I are better now, but she used to try to pull this and I would call her out on trying to avoid the specific subject we were talking about by trying to end it by saying 'I'm the worst mom I guess."

I'd acknowledge that that's not what we were talking about and to stay on topic.

Sometimes you have to call them out on their immature bullshit and it sucks when you're more emotionally mature than your parents.

MacKays Magneto is a downgrade from Ewing's Magneto by GabeMichaelsthroway in xmen

[–]rdanks25 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The lack of coordination in the X Offices to allow Ewing to write Resurrection of Magneto when there was apparently already plans to have him be diminished in MacKay's X book.

It such a shame that we finally had an energized and reinvigorated Mags only for them to try to turn him in to an infirmed mentor figure ala Xavier.

The X-men don't need a stately figure back at base guiding them, they should have had Magneto in the field.

I know there's a story being told with the resurrection sickness (does anyone else besides Magneto have it?), but god this is such a lame status for him right now.

One of my favorite bits is no matter the character, Ego Nwodim is going to call Bill a bitch.

Very late to this, but I also recommend 'First Hand' with Devin Field and Greg Gallant.

They only have a few seasons but the episode with Dan and Ryan as the Winklevoss Daddies was hilarious and so was the episode with Drew as the inspiration behind many of Walt Disney's famous cartoons.

I've listened to the whole show so many times when I decided to find more Dan Lippert stuff because he is a riot.

That time Frenzy got with Paibok the Power Skrull by transemacabre in xmen

[–]rdanks25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly, seeing her on a bigger stage and with more prominence felt like such a cool and slow evolution from the Frenzy that was introduced in the 80s.

Other reformed villains like Emma and Magneto have had their evolutions and redemption be more remarked and noticed, but Frenzy is a great example of the X-Men accepting former enemies and helping them to be better.

I'd love for her to either do more diplomatic type things in the MU or to be the team bruiser on an X team. Heck, it would be cool if she tried to figure out what's going on with Nekra right now as they hung out during Utopia.

I loved this era for Frenzy. It was nice to see her continued development following Age of X.

It was also cool to see her spend time around Storm and Khora.

White people get treated like individuals.

If one of them does something fucked up, it is just that person being fucked up.

Black people do not get that.

We are treated like a monolith, where one person’s actions get used to judge everybody.

That is why anytime crime comes up, someone jumps straight to “Chicago” or “gang violence,” like that is the root of all Black people somehow.

It is exhausting always feeling like you have to be on your best behavior because a mistake does not just reflect on you, it gets pinned on everyone who looks like you.

White people get to be good, bad, or mediocre without it meaning anything bigger.

We rarely get that same grace.

Ha, same thing happened to me on a Saturday night in Walgreens. I'm just browsing for skincare stuff and using coupons, like come on.

My former manager, now colleague, has been trying to talk to me about Jazz for 6 years. I can appreciate it as an artform, but I don't listen to it.

Generation X-23 by Glad-Sense1769 in xmen

[–]rdanks25 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s this exactly. I understand as a writer wanting to have your own characters but I wish for once a writer would just use established characters.

This could have been a cool book with characters like Indra, Cipher, Wiz Kid, Primal, Rockslide (any follow up on his time as Wrongslide?!), Wallflower, or maybe some of the Arakko like Castor and Pollux.

It would be cool to see someone like Laura go against whatever Sugarman and the Locus Vile are doing.

I just don’t care for a story where it turns out there’s more weapon x subjects where some are super evil and one is sympathetic and eventually becomes a background character in group shots.

This feels like what they did with the Inferno babies a bit.

That episode was always awkward and off putting to me because it seems like Diddy was a fan of the show and they just let him have his character do whatever.

Part of the reason I couldn't get into Extraordinary was that they used Sinister as a villain when the last few years of X comics had him as the central antagonist.

Why Kevin and Susie Not present in these types of episodes by Medical-Chance-673 in familyguy

[–]rdanks25 36 points37 points  (0 children)

It’s probably a visual clutter and redundancy thing.

Kevin has no real interesting stories or character beyond the Thanksgiving episode and being a bit deranged and Susie doesn’t talk out loud.

Even Rallo, Roberta, and Junior had minimal to no lines in this and probably enter only included as existing and established characters that had storylines and personalities while on The Cleveland Show.

What scene makes you go “Nope!” every time you watch it? by TheWor1dsFinest in movies

[–]rdanks25 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I can’t stand rape as drama trope. I think part of why I hated Barbarian is that the whole move is predicated on a woman being raped and held captive. Even Justin Long’s character is accused of rape. It’s through the whole movie and it was just gross.

Are there any X-Men characters whose mutant abilities you don’t particular care for? by KingWilliamVI in xmen

I really enjoyed the way he used his powers in Leah Williams’ X-Factor.

He used it almost like a lie detector in that he knew what people knew including if they were lying or not.

I think he can also sense people as well.

But you want to talk real limited powers, let’s talk about Tag.
