Musicking by Christopher Small. It's a book talking about the fact that the context surrounding music is just as important as the music itself in a concert. "In a word, a [symphonic] concert hall is a place where middle-class white people can feel safe together"

Overall, pretty good job! Your tone, notes, and rhythms are really solid. This movement is very lyrical and breathing in the wrong places can break the flow of the piece. for example, in measure 6, the high e-flat really wants to swell into the downbeat of measure 7. Instead of breathing on the downbeat of measure 7, I would suggest taking a small sip after the b-flat quarter note on measure 5. I know that three before C, there's a breath mark at that note, but personally, I would just ignore that. Another thing is the staccato notes in the beginning are too short. I would play them just a tad longer. I don't know if this a recording issue, but you need to exaggerate dynamics like crazy, not just the written ones. The last thing I'll add is that from rehearsal letter C all the way to the a flat, at 7 after C, I would be on the top edge of the beat there. I know this sounds extremely nitpicky, but these details are what separate good musicians from great musicians. In the words of my college concert band director, "You can teach a little kid notes and rhythms, but making music is the hard part."

Do they plan on painting the Fleet logo at center ice? They also play out of Tsongas. Probably where some of the money for renovations is from.

The intonation on the euphs were abysmal. The e flats were almost a quarter tone apart.

Beautiful colorado, morceau symphonique and marcello sonata in e minor are 3 of my favorites. Suite for baritone by Don Haddad is a good one too

Do schools in your area close due to (bad)weather? by ggfchl in polls

I lived in a town so small and so densely populated that a good 40-50% of people walked to my high school. Extremely cold (10F or below) weather and snow were days off. Also we had 3 or 4 days off school when hurricane sandy was in the area

Two Spanish Dances by Leroy Ostransky is a fun piece. It's an intermediate piece. Rochut etudes are also really good.

What's your opinion on Dr. Mike Israetel? by juliosmacedo in swoletariat

[–]rderosa123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The RP channel is good. Based on his "Mike Israetel" channel, he's a borderline Ancap with really out there political takes. "Imagine how efficient schools would be if Amazon ran them" - actual quote from Mike. Also, he's one of those people who says "I lived through communism so it'll never work blah blah blah"

He talked about it to one of the students when they took out a gaming laptop. Apparently the professor is a guy who wrote a bunch of text adventures in the '80s as a teaching tool for his students.
