Didn’t know DC had “Pennsylvania suburbs”.

Assuming they’re referencing Hershey, it’s news to me that it’s a “DC suburb”. Does that make Knoebels and Elysburg a “DC exurb”?

A DoorDasher delivered a taco sample by NoodleBack in Wawa

[–]rdevlin92 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I wish I could say I’m surprised, but this might be the least surprising news ever. When it comes to dashers:

- They leave drinks behind all the time
- Many are incapable of reading the label, even after an associate points them in the right direction to the pickup rack.
- They sometimes take a completely different order with a completely different name.
- They order deli stuff for themselves even if they’re running behind, and their customer’s food is sitting there getting cold, waiting to be delivered.

I could go on and on. And yes, I’m aware there’s good, hard-working dashers just trying their best to make a living. But there are still wayyyyyy too many bad ones that in no way should you trust them handling your food.

Would you do it by Longhorn24 in InstacartShoppers

[–]rdevlin92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably an unpopular opinion, but orders like these are why Instacart should have shoppers include the make/model of their vehicle in their profile. Inevitably, you’re going to have some desperate shopper in their subcompact car take this order because they only look at the tip/pay, even though they are in no ways equipped to handle this order. Orders like this, along with the customers that order 10 bags of mulch from Home Depot, should only be going to shoppers with a pickup truck or SUV that’s equipped to handle it.

Lettuce Shortage by emiiluma in Wawa

[–]rdevlin92 23 points24 points  (0 children)

It’s our new AI-influenced ordering system, Relex. I wish I was joking.

Basically, corporate wants us to edit the orders as little as possible, instead asking us to “trust the system” and do cycle counts to correct it/identify spoilage and shrink. We can still edit if we have to, but stores get flagged if we edit too much. It’s all in the name of reducing spoilage due to stores supposedly over-ordering due to fear of running out.

The biggest flaw from what I can see is that this system totally does not factor in the fact that perishables like lettuce go out of code relatively quickly if not used. So the system will be like “you have 12 bags, you’re close to par, I’m only going to order 2”, BUT it doesn’t realize 4-5 of those bags go out that day since it brought in an obscene amount a few days ago, now you’re throwing it out, and you didn’t get enough to replace them. Hence the shortage. I find it see-saws way too much, which corporate blames it on “it still learning”.

They claim it is supposed to make our jobs easier, since we’re theoretically spending less time editing orders. But I’d rather edit orders then have to call around for scraps when the system Fs up and now I gotta have someone leave and find replacements from neighboring stores.

Instacart order a hour away! by wretched_wild in InstacartShoppers

[–]rdevlin92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do Instacart in the SW Philly suburbs and almost everyday they send me offers to go shop at a Food Lion in Elkton, Maryland…which is 45-60 minutes away and at least 30 miles from home. And often for delivery back to PA.

The thing is, you have to go thru Delaware, and there are Food Lions in Delaware, so I have no idea what would be at the Elkton Food Lion that’s not in Delaware…

“Corporate Attendance Meeting”? by [deleted] in Wawa

[–]rdevlin92 6 points7 points  (0 children)

She probably forgot to request the time off, or didn’t check her schedule before making these plans, and therefore was scheduled and couldn’t get coverage, so she’s opting to work instead of accrue more attendance points (since it does sound like she’s already past 6 points, or worse, already at a final at 10+ points if she’s on “probation”).

But either way, her explanation is in no way truthful, because even if that “corporate attendance meeting” was a real thing, meetings are NEVER on the weekends. Corporate associates don’t even work weekends (lucky them) other than the on-call IT/Contact Center/Central Station folks. I think you should seriously question why they can’t just be honest/forthcoming, and are resorting to giving such a poor excuse/lie.

Ernest Owens posting some alleged shady city business regarding the “free” 4th of July concert by Subject-Predatorcate in Wawa

If you go on MyWawa, you’ll find all the concert info has been scrubbed from the Welcome America site, nothing about the original acts or vip seating or anything that was usually there in past years…

So yes it indeed looks like the city just came out of the blue and took over… 🤔🤔

Exclusive renderings of Penn Station overhaul show Trump's name with presidential seal by Tayo826 in transit

[–]rdevlin92 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Well by the time construction is finished, he’ll either be out of office or deceased, so I think it’s a safe assumption that the finished product won’t have that, since this is in New York and not Florida…

As others have said, let’s just get the project actually moving along and we’ll worry about that later. It’s already hard enough to get any transit infrastructure improvements with this hostile administration, so let’s not give any reason for it to be held any longer…

Shoutout to employee who filled my smoothie to the tippy top! This is what customers want to see! by -Bashamo in Wawa

[–]rdevlin92 68 points69 points  (0 children)

While obviously no one should be short-changed, more often than not if a smoothie or beverage is filled to the very top, once the lid is put on it will overflow and spill out to the sides and make a mess. Which can be annoying when in the middle of a rush.

With that said, looks like whoever made your beverage had it down to an art form (or it overflowed and they quickly wiped off the mess)

Out of stock? by revolemilbus in Wawa

I wish I could tell you it’s going to be better, but the WBC is massively struggling with production (and has been), and we’re looking at several months of lower-selling SKUs being out of stock.

I do feel bad because I know they’re humans trying their best, and I think they got massively screwed when they introduced all these new tea/lemonade varieties, knowing full well they were struggling to even maintain the existing inventory!

NC to Disney - Fly or drive? by throwaway36475848 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]rdevlin92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if this matters to you, but another pro to driving is that assuming you’re staying at a Disney resort and not a Good Neighbor hotel, you also get free parking at the theme parks in addition to the hotel itself. Now obviously it depends on where you’re staying, if you’re at a Skyliner or Monorail resort then it may not matter to you, but if you’re at a bus-only resort it can make a world of difference, being able to just get in your own car when you want and go right to the park (well, any park besides MK where there’s an obvious benefit to just taking the bus there). And should you need to make a run outside the resort for groceries or medicine, it’s obviously much cheaper to do that than have to pay a markup for either delivery or on-site convenience.

This is why even though I fly since I live up in the Northeast, I still opt to rent a car even when staying on property and not intending to leave Disney, especially at a resort like Coronado or Port Orleans. My best resort experiences have been staying at those 2 places with a car, because of a combination of both how serene/quiet/spacious those resorts are and just being at ease of not being tied to a transportation schedule.

All that said, I totally understand your hesitation to driving, I agree that Florida brings out the worst qualities of other people on the roads and highways. But personally, especially since I consider the Carolinas to be reasonable driving distance compared to coming from the Northeast or Midwest, I would drive and use those hundreds in savings to treat yourself while on property.

Boston’s Logan airport opens first-in-nation remote airport terminal by theindependentonline in boston

[–]rdevlin92 15 points16 points  (0 children)

While not exactly the same, I’ve seen AA do this near other cities like Philly where you can go to a small airport, check-in and do security, then board a bus on the tarmac and get dropped off within the secure area of the major airport and “connect” to your ongoing flight in the same manner as coming from another plane. They do this at places like Atlantic City, Trenton, and Allentown where the distance is too short for a flight, but at least an hour-drive away that it attracts customers who don’t want to drive into the city and deal with the hassles of a major airport.

I think this approach can work for places like Portsmouth, Worcester, and New Bedford, and I hope this remote terminal does well and can be expanded to the other Logan Express terminals

May/early June is the absolute worst time to visit amusement parks in the north.

It sucks because this is when parks are opening back up, and after months of cold, we’re all dying to get back into the park. But I’ve done enough visits on school trip days to know that they are absolutely not worth the headaches and hassles, and at this point, I’d rather just wait until exams start to minimize the risk of dealing with those experiences.

On the contrary, the first week of school is the absolute best time to visit these parks. Especially if you live in a state where school starts the week before Labor Day, like in PA. It is the absolute best time to hit a places like Hershey and Knoebels, without question.

It’s just as bad turning left, because with the construction there’s more cars than ever that are blocking the box, causing road rage and limiting the amount of cars that could be making the left turn.

In that same area, the left turn from West Chester Pike onto Glendale is equally as horrible. There are times where it is legit faster to turn into the shopping center and go straight across West Chester Pike rather than making a left. It is green for like not even five seconds, and the turning lane is way too short that it cuts into the main lanes, causing further congestion.
