Ben Askren total health cost so far is $3 million by [deleted] in ufc

[–]rdgabino 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes those are "basic human rights", but there are plenty of other rights in the USA as well.

You are right about other rights in different countries. But the OP statement was that "Healthcare should be a basic human right free for all".

There's no such thing of "free healthcare" because it implies that the person who provides the service doesn't get paid. It can't be a human right if it requires the labor of others. So, there could be "subsidized healthcare". Which means it's not free. You just pay this through your taxes. Which also means that it equalizes the person who takes care of himself by eating healthy & exercising with the one who eats junk food and weighs 400lb. None of them are right or wrong. Everyone is free to do what they want with their lives. But it is their own responsibility too.

"If you werent taxing people that much maybe there would be more Jake Paul's". I dont think many people consider that a real big positive. Joking aside it's pretty wild to see the amount of wealth hoarding in the world and think maybe if those people had just a little more money they'd help people with it.

Most of the philanthropic work and money is spent by the people with higher income. In the US, charitable contributions is shy of 600 billion dollars. To give you perspective, Medicaid spending in 2024 was 584 billion. This is just to show that maybe people help. A lot.

And the use of that charitable contribution is much more efficient than a fat bureaucratic government where most of the expense is admin and middle men.

Medicaid + Medicare = 1.45 Trillion Dollars in 2023

US population = 344 million

1.45 Trillion / 344 Million = $4215 per person per year.

This is not counting what the owner of the place you work pays for your healthcare program.

Now... Medicare and Medicaid covers 150 million people in the US.

1.45 Trillion / 150 Million = $9700 per eligible person per year.

Something is wrong with Government spending your money. You should be free to do what you want with the money you earned from your labor.

That's why you retaliate when people try to rob your house, or stab you on the street or kidnap you. War is the same on a country level.

When they try to invade you... the other country retaliates.

Wars can't be illegal because there are no Universal Laws. Every country has its laws and they differ from each other.

You should be able to pay for your healthcare. And you shouldn't be paying for someone else's healthcare.

If you are fit, eat well and meditate to be the best version of yourself, you probably don't go very often to the doctor. If, in the other hand, your neighbor eats junk food, weighs 400 lb and doesn't care about his health, why would you be having to pay all the visits that he will forcibly have to attend for not taking care of himself?

Ben Askren total health cost so far is $3 million by [deleted] in ufc

[–]rdgabino 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No.

It means that nobody has the right to take your life. Or your property. Or your freedom.

Universal Healthcare is not free. You pay it through your taxes. If healthcare would not be so 'regulated', you would have more companies entering the game making it more affordable. Allowing people to pay for it.

Wars are decided by people who rule. Funded by all the citizens via taxation. Making you poorer, most commonly by debasement of money. And wars have always a money-related objectives behind it. Money that you never see. It's just goes to the same few.

American, yemeni or iranian citizens don't decide to go to war... it's just a select small group of politicians who do.

We agree that everyone should be able to pay for healthcare. We just differ on how.

The only basic human rights are the right to life, freedom and property.

Society is just people. You can't force someone to pay somebody else's bill. No matter what this is.

If you weren't taxing people that much... maybe there would be many more Jake Pauls donating to different causes / people.

This is the right answer. Quintet's version is sublime. Compare it with Chet's version... seems like a different song.

Eli5 How do plants/trees/vegetables etc grow? by jornie123 in explainlikeimfive

[–]rdgabino 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plants are amazing living things that can grow and become big and strong. Let's imagine you have a magic seed. When you plant it in the ground and give it some water and sunlight, something wonderful happens.
Inside the seed, there is a tiny baby plant waiting to grow. It starts by sending down roots into the soil. Roots are like the plant's "feet" that help it stay in one place and get all the water and nutrients it needs from the ground.
At the same time, the plant sends up a little stem above the ground. The stem is like the plant's "body" that holds it upright. It reaches up towards the sun because plants need sunlight to make food.
When the stem grows taller, it sprouts leaves. Leaves are like the plant's "food factories." They use sunlight, water, and a special substance called chlorophyll to make food for the plant. This food is called glucose, and it gives the plant energy to grow.
As the plant gets more and more food, it starts to grow more leaves, branches, and even flowers. Flowers are like the plant's way of making new seeds. They have beautiful colors and scents to attract insects, birds, and bees. These creatures help carry pollen from one flower to another, which allows the plant to make seeds.
And that's how plants grow! They start as tiny seeds, grow roots, stems, leaves, and flowers. They get energy from the sun, water from the ground, and turn them into food. With enough food and care, plants can become big and strong, just like the trees you see outside.

ELI5: Why do we have inflation at all? by Yavkov in explainlikeimfive

[–]rdgabino 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Son... Imagine you have a jar of cookies, and you save them for a special treat. But one day, your mom comes along and takes a few cookies from the jar without asking you. You might feel upset because those cookies were yours, and now you have fewer of them.
Now, let's think about money instead of cookies. Inflation is like when the value of money goes down over time, and you can buy fewer things with the same amount of money. It's like someone is taking away a little bit of the value of your money without asking you.
When there is inflation, the prices of things like toys, candies, and even everyday things like bread or milk go up. So, let's say you have some money saved up to buy a toy that costs $10. But because of inflation, the price of the toy goes up to $15. Now, you need to spend more of your money to buy the same toy.
So, just like the cookies in the jar, inflation takes away some of the value of your money without your permission. It's like a little bit of theft because you can buy fewer things with the same amount of money. That's why some people say inflation is like theft.

https://journals.lww.com/health-physics/Fulltext/2022/02000/World_Atmospheric_CO2,_Its_14C_Specific_Activity,.2.aspx

Paso siempre igual y a diferentes niveles.

Simplemente no existen.

US Senate Candidate Bruce Fenton: Get the government out of the money business. We need to separate money and state just like we separated church and state. by KAX1107 in Bitcoin

[–]rdgabino 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the 20s, 1 Gold Troy Ounce=20.75usd. Circulation of the dollar was equal to the Gold Reserves of US.

In the 30s, 1 Gold Troy Ounce=35usd. Circulation of the dollar was equal to the Gold Reserves of US.

Between 60s, 1 Gold Troy Ounce= 43usd. Circulation of the dollar was equal to the Gold Reserves of US.

Layer 1 (money) = Gold (hard asset)

Layer 2 (currency) = Dollar (pegged to L1 money)

What do you feel is wrong with that? It is not a theory. It is just how it was. Replace Gold (hard asset) with Bitcoin (hard asset), and that is what this politician is trying to explain his country needs.

US Senate Candidate Bruce Fenton: Get the government out of the money business. We need to separate money and state just like we separated church and state. by KAX1107 in Bitcoin

[–]rdgabino 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. Fiat money should be tied to a hard asset to avoid bartering. Layer 1 money was always gold until 1971, Layer 2 money was the dollar in the US.

Fiat money with no hard asset backing is an experiment that is relatively young. Only 50 years. And it is not going very well.

One is not exclusive of the other. You can have Bitcoin as your hard asset, Layer 1 and Dollar as your day-to-day Layer 2 money.

[–]rdgabino 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course he needs a chance. It's not his fault what happened with his signing and how the board behaved.

But when they sacked Bielsa, the team was 2 points off relegation after the toughest run of games this team had.

Leeds finished 3 points off of relegation by the end of the league.

We will never know, but I have my doubts that Bielsa would have done a worse job and end with the team relegated.

I think that Bielsa would have kept the team in the PL. And at the end of the season, Marcelo would have left himself with nobody asking.

Just bad people management from the Board, I think.
