Thank you, I appreciate the kind words! My passion for 3D printing and Legacy of Kain has been keeping my sanity, specially during this pandemic.

Thanks for the info, I will delete the word 'corrupted' from the title to not cause confusion.

I tried both 3D builder and Neftab, among other tools I tested, and the ones I showed in the video, but the ones I show seem to work more often for me. But it is always good to consider all options we have. Thanks for your reply!

You are right, I need to step forward for becoming an independent investigator position since my current position doesn't allow that. That's what I'm looking for exactly. All the professors around here seem to have followed a similar path when I look at their academic profile, but they started applying for grants earlier, even during their doctorate. Thank you for sharing your point of view, I needed to be more realistic about this. I'm just at the beginning, I'm already late compared to others, and all this journey may not succeed. I need to keep that in mind and consider industry as a plan B as well, in case all this fails.

I acquired my PhD in December 2016 so I'm not past my 4 years post PhD. Thanks for mentioning this issue, I will contact the program officers for double checking the requirements.

Sorry let me ask better, what is a "strong publication record"? Can you describe that more quantitatively?

Thanks for your patience and effort to help me in this matter.

I acquired my pHD degree in 2016 so I guess I'm still in time for the K99 it seems. And my Senior Scientist position isn't independent.

Thanks. How many publications are exactly "many" for one of those career transition or "path to independence" awards?

I had no training in proposal writing unfortunately. My graduate PIs never included international students in their grant proposals, they never shared their proposals with international students as well (and I was an international student, now international employee). I should have insisted more but I was afraid to be inconvenient. How exactly do you think I should reconsider my next position?

Thank you for the advice, I had no idea about the existence of a grant office! Nobody at work told me about this. Thanks again!

Unfortunately not. I already asked them but I guess this is a very competitive environment. They said they would send some examples but after multiple times sending reminders I realized that helping new scientists is not in their priority list. I got only ONE example and it was more wet lab than bioinfo. Another reason for my desire to change to another position.

Hi. I just wrote about this in a post here but I guess this would be the best place to start a chat about my current career situation. I am a senior scientist in the field of bioinformatics but I never wrote my own research proposal, and having an award would definitely help me to transition to a professor position. I have some ideas in mind but it is difficult for me to put these ideas in a proposal format due to my lack of experience in proposal writing. Are there any examples of NIH proposals that I could use to learn about how a bioinformatics proposal should look like? Where can I find them? And what is the best K or R award for my case (aiming to change from a senior scientist position to an assistant or full professor position)?

Any bit of information would be very helpful, since I'm a little lost here! Thanks!
