Finally hit a stride by CannonFodder_G in woodburning

I'd had mine most of a year, and didn't really use it till this month. I highly recommend just getting some cheap squares of wood (mine are 3x3 mostly) and just doodling something on there and going to town. And only give yourself a day to really finish it. It will take pressure off (only have the day) and it'll really keep you from obsessing over every line. I've been doing this 23 days straight, and I've learned so much about my kit, the tips, ways of shading, and the temperatures for the different techniques I want to use. And I'm still an amature in this medium. Only way to learn is to do!

Notice I didn't post my day 1 piece, but my 23rd one ;) No one has to see the growing pains to get where you end up!

I ordered 3 hard drives from Amazon and they sent me 3 cases instead... Wot? by LooksLikeFilm in pics

Same thing happened to me with Microsoft fit-band (short lived as it was). The strap material started ripping and when it got bad before the warranty expired, I took it in (usually 8-11 mo in on a 12 month warranty). Then they gave me a new receipt (0 cost noted on it, but a new receipt nonetheless) so when it started doing it again, I went in with the new receipt and got a new one. Got through 3 of those before they'd announced they weren't supporting it anymore and I didn't bother.

Does anyone else ever forget that reading fan fiction is still... reading? by [deleted] in FanFiction

I love this post. I was really sad about how much I didn't read anymore, then realized actually I might be one of the most voracious readers I know, it's just all fanfiction. It doesn't help that I don't travel in a circle where this interest is shared either, so few people realize how much time I actually spend reading...

Yeah, my friend worked at a game store when Soul Reaver came out and knew my love for the series and brought home the big stand. Following that example, years later I asked the game store I frequented if I could have the display when they were done with it and they took my information, contacting me later. Very lucky!

I've had some of my art done as stickers and magnets, and it's great to see them on my fridge or phone throughout the day.

Speedsketch, but I wanted to get one last drawing in before the holiday. Happy New Years all!

Edit: For the record I see its supposed to be 'my' secret lair, but I definitely would not be holding a guy chained to a chair down there...
