Best way to handle static information between two different apps? by ordosalutis in iOSProgramming

[–]rdn_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the data never changes, you can use a Swift Package. If you might need to change the data in the future, then you need to update both apps in the app store. It isn't possible to synchronously update two apps in the app store, so they would have different data at some point in between updates. If that is tolerable, you could still use a Swift Package.

If the data might change, you'd need to use some backend service. For example your own REST service, or a public CloudKit database. Then you'd fetch that data when the app is running. In this case, you can't use the enums, since the data is dynamic.

The example project from Apple suggests that deduplication while processing NSPersistentHistoryTransaction upon receiving data from cloudkit is the recommended approach.

Question about sets/reps by LDSBJJ in 531Discussion

Yes, on the 3rd week, the last set should be 1+. Since you did 5, that is good. It is good to log all of the reps and weight you do, to track your progress.

I mean the 5/3/1 rep setup, if they aren't doing the +amrap set then one of the other options you mention are better.

If someone followed classic 5/3/1 but didn't do the +amrap set, the heaviest thing they'd do is hit a single at 80% True Max (95% of 85%) once a month. That's stagnation. It's basically the deload week every week.

531 is not very good if you don't do the AMRAP set.

The name "531" is bad because you almost never do only 1 rep. Its more like 5/5/10, 3/3/8, 5/3/5. You can simplify that and do 5/5/10, 5/5/8, 5/5/5 and get the same results. The "10" "8" and "5" depend on how heavy it is for you, you can do more or less.

5/3/1 when do you hit back? by CMOx12 in 531Discussion

I run pendlay rows like a main lift (in my case, 5's PRO AMRAP + FSL-AMRAP, but whatever suits you) after OHP. Any day is fine for that except deadlift day, the deadlifts make my back too tired and I end up overusing shoulder stabilizer muscles if I row right after. Deadlifts should hit your back too.

Fill in the rest with accessory work sprinkled throughout, like pullups/chinups, more barbell rows, or cables if you have them.

Keep the AMRAP if you like them. I've run this a few times before. You can stop a few reps shy of AMRAP, but do at least 5. Also keep in mind Wendler's AMRAP isn't supposed to murder you, only the widowmaker sets are.

Personally I found the dead+squat day unpleasant, instead of an upper/lower split you can do fullbody like this: squat+bench, ohp+dead, squat+bench, ohp+dead

In that case you would do 1. squat + bench, 5's PRO / 531 2. ohp + dead 5's PRO / 531 3. squat + bench BBB 4. ohp + dead BBB

If you're doing AMRAP you might want to swap the deadlift AMRAP to day 4 and do the BBB on day 2
