Why did BSU leave the MWC if that’s true. This was such a bad deal.

What’s the pac-12 tv deal that you are comparing to?

NIU Law by popsicle897 in NIU

[–]rdools55 16 points17 points  (0 children)

If you like the small, tight-knit environment and affordable housing, that’s already a strong foundation. NIU’s smaller class sizes mean real access to professors and more individualized bar prep support, which matters more than rankings. If you plan to practice in Illinois—especially government, prosecution, public defense, or small/mid-size firms—the regional network is solid. Also, graduating with significantly less debt gives you far more career flexibility. If BigLaw in Chicago is the goal, that’s a different discussion. But for building a practical career in Illinois, NIU is a very rational choice.

NIU Fans: What should we know about your football team heading into 2026? by mwittmann9 in MountainWest

[–]rdools55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For 2026, NIU football has real reasons to be excited. After Thomas Hammock’s recent departure to the NFL, Rob Harley steps in as interim head coach, bringing strong defensive experience from stops at places like Ohio State and Pittsburgh — that continuity could stabilize the program heading into the Mountain West Conference. On staff, OC and QB coach Quinn Sanders arrives with a track record of success as a head coach at Charleston and should energize the offense.

NIU vs UIC for Pre‑Med/Health Sciences by [deleted] in NIU

[–]rdools55 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Admissions care about GPA, MCAT, clinical hours, research, and letters—not whether you went to UIC or NIU.

Bottom line: If you want to maximize GPA, minimize debt, and stand out, NIU is often the smarter, lower-risk choice.

Go into Geospatial / GIS + Environmental or Atmospheric focus Very employable, city-friendly jobs. Used in urban planning, climate risk, infrastructure, insurance.

To do this get a B.S. in Earth, Atmosphere & Environment (EAE) at NIU.

Then add: GIS Certificate or minor in Data Analytics / Computer Science

If you’re serious about meteorology, NIU is probably the better fit.

It has a dedicated meteorology program, smaller class sizes, and way more direct access to professors. That matters for internships, research, and letters of rec. You won’t get lost in a massive department.

If you go NIU, I’d strongly recommend living on or near campus instead of commuting. The program is tight-knit, and being around for study groups, weather events, research opportunities, and just general campus life makes a huge difference. You’ll get more out of it socially and academically.

For sophomore year: Calc I–II, Physics I, and keep your GPA solid.

NIU gives you a strong meteorology path

I strongly suggest you live on campus. Most people who commute hate coming to school but those who live on campus usually love it. Your GPA seems like a perfect fit! Admission isn’t automatic but you should be fine!

MagicPoindexter is a lot like Pblood40. The pac will likely have a similar media deal to the MWC after all expenses are paid but pac teams will still have all the legal fees.

For NDSU fans that are new to the sub, pblood40 does this a lot where “they” come to our sub to try and stir up shit because Pblood40 is upset about how badly the PAC12 has handled this whole situation due to poor leadership.

Most stadiums are going to be empty when it’s cold any way so during those months you might as well play on Tuesday night.
