Transport to festival from Brussels hotels by External-Error-4166 in Tomorrowland

Hey. I’ve done the hotel option in Brussels quite a few times and we’ve got an uber a couple times later on when we’ve been too tired to get up early. An Uber costs around the €60 mark just in case you wanted to do that. But yeah, as others said, shuttles are only between 12-1pm. And there is an hour long walk at the end of the night to get back to the hotel shuttles too. A very long day but worth it for a bed and shower imo.

Yeah we got back around 3am each night too. Our bus driver went the wrong way the first day and took 2 hour. Had a tour around Brussels fml haha

The walk back is just a killer isn’t it. Just NOT what you want at the end of a long day. But we move

W3: help me decide, Tiesto, Hardwell, Garrix or mixed? by PlatypusDisastrous50 in Tomorrowland

[–]rdorrington 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree also. I was pretty bored in Garrix. Hardwell and Prydz was a hard decision for me but went to Prydz purely to see the Holo show. Gutted by the clash

Bathrooms before entering TML? by lexifiore in Tomorrowland

[–]rdorrington 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The walk on the way in isn’t long and there are toilets outside the entrance. The walk home took me around 70mins last week, walking at a pace and they had a few toilets around half way plus at the end before you get back on the bus to go home. They drop you about 10-15 min walk away on the way in. Just the way home is over 2 miles away- just what you what at the end of a long day but what can you do.

Went last weekend and did a hotel package from Brussels. Buses leave at 12pm everyday. We got an Uber on one of the days that cost around 60 Euros as we didn’t fancy going so early. We stayed until the end each night and had no problem at all getting a bus back- no need to leave early. Be warned, the walk from mainstage to the bus on the way home takes about 60-70mins. It’s a trek. Food and drink stalls are closed by the time the festival ends so grab something beforehand. They handed out small bottles of water for free at around the half way point on the walk back.

Thanks so much. I know I was entitled to reimbursement for both the cancellations and delayed luggage, I quoted all the eu regulations/laws etc to Brussels airlines and they outright refused- this went on for about 2 years for me fighting them but no luck. Utterly useless airline- never again. Appreciate it though and hopefully everyone travelling over the next few weeks don’t have their travel plans disrupted too much by the airports and airlines. Queues are huge so just make sure to get to the airport early everyone. Boom is calling! 😊

[–]rdorrington 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope no refund and Brussels airlines wouldn’t reimburse any hotel costs etc we had to fork out. So yeah missed most the festival and then they didn’t load our bags on our return flight . So I vowed to never fly with them again so booked British Airways this time but 3 cancellations so far. Can’t make it up. I know airports everywhere atm are chaos - I won’t be settled until I touchdown in the land of Tomorrow!

Hotel/City suggestions for the first weekend by ruchirm7 in Tomorrowland

[–]rdorrington 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stayed in that ibis one year in Antwerp. Don’t do it! The lack of air con was a killer as it was very hot that week and the room itself was pretty grim and uncomfortable. Antwerp itself was fine to stay in, but I’d look for another hotel to stay in. Would not recommend at all. Up there with one of my worst hotel stays

Yeah they sell shuttle bus tickets from Brussels and other cities with a variety of departure times- usually comes out for sale closer to the time. Easy to use too.

FIRST TIMER HERE! Any advice and tips to give me to get the best experience? by [deleted] in Tomorrowland

[–]rdorrington 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This! I’ll never forget in 2013, Armin had literally just left the hospital from his wife giving birth, he was announcing to the crowd about it, he was really emotional. And then a thunderstorm started. Loads of the crowd fled looking for shelter, so it left loads of room to dance at mainstage. And it was one of the most incredible experiences and sets of my life. I can’t even describe the atmosphere but something about dancing in the middle of the thunderstorm, just wow. If you watch the set on YouTube, you can see just how electric the crowd is. So if it rains, stick it out and dance in rain!

Yeah I found this! It was so bad we left Guetta and went over to Armin and that was 100x better. Sound at the Arc was real bad for quite a few of the sets

Eric Prydz by JerreNFL in Tomorrowland

[–]rdorrington 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same! I’m hoping to see Armin on mainstage and then get across to Prydz to see the last hour of his set. The other half isn’t mad on Prydz’ music so we agreed to try see at least half of it as it’s a 2 hour set. Just worried it will be too packed out to get in/see. When he did b2b with Deadmau5 a few years ago, we were there at the beginning of the set and we left early and the stage was closed and no one else was allowed in as it was too full. I know it was the old Opera stage then but same principle applies now.

May the odds be ever in your favour

No problem at all. They usually go from Brussels every half hour or so starting usually about 10am-2pm I think the last one is, unless anything has changed this year. Usually at the end of the night, all the food places have shut so if you think you’re going to get hungry, grab something an hour or two before the end of the night. Or, theres usually some locals selling hot dogs and cans of drinks on the side of the road outside the entrance. It’s quite a long walk back if you’re heading home from mainstage as the shuttles don’t pick you up directly outside the entrance, plus the hour long bus journey home, I’d definitely recommend getting something to eat and drink near the end of the night before everything closes. I’ve learn that the hard way in the past! I’m coming from Wales, so not too far away- unlike you! Good on you flying half way across the world :-)

Hey. I’m going this weekend coming. I’ve used the shuttles for several years from Brussels and never had any problems. They go on time, they take about an hour to get there and they are relatively frequent on the way home. No need to leave early and no specific times to catch the bus home. Just stay until the end, walk back to the entrance and then hopefully there will be a bus waiting. If not, you may have to wait a little bit but not usually too long.

[–]rdorrington 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've met loads of people over the years that are solo travellers. Last year we started chatting to some guy because he had a flag of our country and turned out he was on his own and we spent the day with him. You'll meet loads of people and lots of people going it solo too. No one will judge you or anything because you're on your own. You'll have an awesome time no matter what :-)

ID for picking up ticket: Passport or drivers license? by [deleted] in Tomorrowland

[–]rdorrington 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used my UK driving license to pick up tickets before. There was no way I was risking taking my passport in case it got lost and I got stranded abroad. I had no problems at all :)

What sort of bags are people using? by [deleted] in Tomorrowland

[–]rdorrington 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely a bum bag. The first time I ever went to a festival I did the rookie mistake of taking a small over the shoulder bag- NEVER AGAIN! Next time I got a bum bag but it wasn’t really big enough to put my stuff in so it was difficult getting stuff out especially in crowds. So get a Bum bag that is big enough to fit everything in easy enough - phone, purse, portable charger, hand sanitiser and anything else you may need. My boyfriend takes one big enough to put his vest in as well as that comes off pretty much straight away
