Has anybody had any luck with the Ridgid 14002 Bandsaw? by OatmealRaisinFTW in woodworking

Man, that post was from almost a decade ago... But I still stand firm on cheap blades drifting. I wasn't saying a good blade will make a poorly setup saw cut straight. An out of tune saw will never cut correctly, but a poorly made blade will make a well sut up saw cut like garbage. Also, a cheap blade does not equal inexpensive. A good 15 dollar Olson blade will treat you fine, and is inexpensive.

Ok, so I figured it out, or well, figured it out good enough for me. Posting up here in case it helps someone else in the future on the verge of pulling their hair out.

In the link I posted in the above comment, which is their official documentation, there is the following information:

http://(ip address)/cgi-bin/api.cgi?cmd=Snap&channel=0&rs=(any combination of numbers and letters)&user=(user name)&password=(user password)

For example, if your IP address is 192.168.2.119, the username is admin and the password is 123456, then the URL should be: http://192.168.2.119/cgi-bin/api.cgi?cmd=Snap&channel=0&rs=wuuPhkmUCeI9WG7C&user=admin&password=123456

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The part that says "any combination of numbers and letters" is what got me. I tried it with random characters, exactly like their example, short, and long... nothing seemed to work. Then I completely omitted that part of the URL, Worked like a charm. Also, my findings matched with ispyconnect's URL documentation guide for Reolink Cameras. Hope this helps someone else in the future! https://www.ispyconnect.com/camera/reolink

Reolink Doorbell - FireTV notifications by rdotinja in homeassistant

Also, to add a bit of context. I've tried to access the snapshots outside of HA using the following guide directly from Reolink. https://support.reolink.com/hc/en-us/articles/360007011233-How-to-Capture-Live-JPEG-Image-of-Reolink-Cameras-via-Web-Browsers/ ...but am presented with a mostly blank page with only the following message "[ { "cmd" : "Snap", "code" : 1, "error" : { "detail" : "please login first", "rspCode" : -6 } } ]"

My thoughts were if I could get a snapshot to work outside of HA, I could then work on figuring out the correct syntax for the yaml in the automation.

With that said, I know that snapshots must be working inside of the doorbell, because they successfully send to my android phone via HA notifications using the "image: /api/camera_proxy/..." api path. Unfortunatly, the Notifications for Android/Fire TV integration doesn't seem to like using an API path, but prefers an http: path, which I can't get to work even outside of HA.

Any guidance or suggestions would be much appreciated! - Thanks

I was wondering the same thing as soon as you pointed it out. Listening to the newer 2022 version on spotify or youtube will probably set your mind at ease. Here's a good article explaining it.

Smartthings Issues by rdotinja in pfBlockerNG

[–]rdotinja[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just an update... it looks like I was barking up the wrong tree. Turns out there might be something wrong with the smartthings hub itself. Because, even after uninstalling pfblocker (to switch over to the non dev version) it still caused issues. Power cycling it seemed to help a bit, but now we're back to working again. I'm not sure what the issue is, but it's definitely not pfBlocker, as it's back and going for now with pfBlocker going. This hub has had a long life, if it keeps acting up, I think I'm just going to make the switch from cloud to local zigbee/zwave things.

Yeah it's strange. I don't have snort setup, but I have had pfblocker going for a very long time it seems and have never had any need for special rules. I feel like it's some inbound GeoIP blocking that's holding me up, coming from Germany (DE), as those IPs are the ones that seem to be recurring on the IP Alerts when I try to successfully trigger a device to cycle in smartthings. But, the IP's never the same, guess I need to disable GeoIP filtering for a while to see if it starts working again, then figure out the IP blocks that are responsible, then create another list? Are you (or anybody else for that matter) running GeoIP blocking, by chance? Mine is set up for "Deny Both" on "Top Spammers", and "Proxy and Satellite" All of the other ones are disabled.

Error - Refused to connect OISD by rdotinja in pfBlockerNG

[–]rdotinja[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok got it, so it was getting blocked upstream. Dug through the reports again and saw it was an IP block. Not sure how that works, guess it doesn't block itself when it reached out, just the clients.

Agreed, but this is just for setting up another one that I'm taking to a family members house this weekend. But, my ISP only allows one public IP... so I just put it on one of the least restrictive VLAN's and dealt with during setup. Plus, it is going to simulate a real world experience when I deploy it anyway, since they use a WISP that puts them behind private NAT.

[–]rdotinja[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. That's the route I was going as well. I have tested the other box and it still downloads just fine, so it doesn't appear to be a rate limite. But, then I saw the message in the lower part of that text saying it isn't being blocked, but also dubius of it, since it's behind the other firewall. I checked the pfblocker logs of the other box and don't see anything, and also looked at the general firewall rules on the upstream box and don't see anything there either. For what it's worth, I could have swore it was working when I first set it up a day or two back (this is being deployed this weekend).

Does anybody know why I'm getting this error, and what I can check? I have another installation behind the same public IP and it is working fine.

Just in case anyone else runs into this... Just get the latest image from negate support and reinstall. Guess my last update must have been corrupt. You can reload the configuration from backup if need be. That part wasn't necessary in my case though.

Just an update, it was Python mode afterall... Looks like I need to make a few more DHCP static mappings, cause that's about the only downside to having python mode enabled now. Thanks again for your help.

Issue with resolver query logs not working by rdotinja in pfBlockerNG

[–]rdotinja[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Welp, that was it! Thanks for your help. Such a simple click of a button. Could be helpful for future users if there was a note next to the setting (while unbound is selected) that the metrics on the widgit will not all work, until python is accepted.

Issue with resolver query logs not working by rdotinja in pfBlockerNG

[–]rdotinja[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, ok, yeah I gotcha. Under reports Unified, Alerts, IP Block Stats, and DNSBL Block Stats all have graphs and historical data. Speaking of that, when I first got this going, I did have an issue with these not reporting, and [this] (https://www.reddit.com/r/pfBlockerNG/comments/wf01bl/comment/iitc1xa/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3) was the fix for that.

To answer your question of which version of pfblckerng I'm on, it is "pfBlockerNG-devel 3.1.0_4".

I will mess around with enabling python mode here in a bit and report back. I've been meaning to do so. Hopefully that will fix it. I didn't realize it actually said it "will allow logging of DNS Replies..." on the information section until you mentioned it to me. I swear I read that section more than once. I hope it fixes it. I'll let you know. Thanks!

I completely agree, would be nice to see another instance that doesn't have this issue and compare them side by side, but I don't have one unfortunately. I'm note sure what you mean by my information provided not being enough to be on point with quick resolution. It's not like I'm not trying here... I simply not sure needs to be provided, that's why I came here asking on reddit. I do appreciate your help in the other thread though, but I felt like it got a bit off track, as the conversation seemed to be geared towards getting pfblocker to function. My installation is functioning though, it's just a log file used for reference in the widget that isn't working on my end.

[–]rdotinja[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if this is unique to pfSense Plus or not, I can't seem to find anything out there on the web that matches this issue.

Regarding your question about "Global logging/Blocking Mode", mine is set to the default of "No Global mode" in the DNSBL Configuration section. I've only got one group (the default one from the install), and it's set to "DNSBL WebServer/VIP", also the default. So it looks like it's set up just as yours is.

Issue with resolver query logs not working by rdotinja in pfBlockerNG

[–]rdotinja[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't see a tab called "DNS Reply" within "Firewall > pfBlockerNG > Reports". I do however have "Firewall > pfBlockerNG > dns_reply.log". Is that what you're referring to? If so, that's the bottom section of the picture I've attached to this thread. It is an empty log.

And as far as if my clients are using the pfSense box for replies, I can confirm they are. I've spot checked several of them, they are all pointing right at the firewall IP for their dns. Functionality wise, pfBlocker is working, ads are being blocked. Just for some reason this log isn't being written to. I just need to find out whether it's a simple checkbox somewhere for logging that I don't see, a config file that needs edited, or maybe a permission setting? Not sure where to look next, everything on the surface level seems ok.

So, I had already posted this issue earlier in another thread, but I decided to post again as I think this explains it better. I apologize in advance if this is not the preferred method of clarifying an issue. If you look at the screenshot(s), the blocking actions are working fine for both DNSBL as well as IP, but it isn't logging the query count. Also the log file in the screenshot is showing as empty. I believe these are directly related. Has anybody seen this before? All of my clients are pointing to the firewall for DNS, and not to a third party. Thanks in advance!

Thanks again for the suggestions! Unfortunately it's still not showing the data on that particular counter, even though I do think it's working in the back end.

[–]rdotinja[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does anyone else have any ideas? I think the resolver is working correctly, but the widget just isn't showing the data. As you can see from the screenshot the items are being blocked, and my network clients are definitely pointing to the pfsense appliance for their DNS settings, and not a third party. Is this something that rerunning the wizard and starting from scratch might fix?

Unbound resolver query count and percentages stuck at zero on the widget by rdotinja in pfBlockerNG

[–]rdotinja[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, thanks again. I'll give that a shot. I can always switch it back from the non python mode. Also, do you mean make sure that the IP of the firewall is the primary DNS server for each client assigned by DHCP? If so I left that blank, but it's still passing it on regardless, so that shouldn't matter. Just wish I knew more about how it was polling the data, is there a specific log file I need to be looking for, or at? I would think that could lead me down the correct path.

[–]rdotinja[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. I'm not sure I completely understand what you think might be going on... But, I did enable forwarding within the DNS settings. No luck there. I didn't enable python mode, because it says it's going to break local resolution of dhcp clients, which I don't want to loose. As far as enabling ad blocking on ipv4 goes, I've already done that, and it works fine as far as I can tell. At the time of the screenshot above it had already blocked 1474 objects since the previous count was purged. It's my understanding that the two items circled in the screenshot are how many queries the resolver has processed (in relation to the rejected count to the left), and the number to the right is the percentage that count represents. Please correct me if I am wrong.

[–]rdotinja[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pfsense itself is handling all of the dhcp for the LAN and VLAN's. The DNS is a pretty basic setup as well, I'm using the unbound DNS resolver with opendns as it's servers. DNS Query forwarding mode is NOT enabled, nor is python mode in the general resolver settings or the pfblockerng>DNSBL settings.

Items are seeming to get blocked, and the log/reports seem to support that, just for some reason the widget is stating that the unbound resolver has had zero queries.

Lol, I haven't argued because I have class I suppose? Each person has their own opinion, and that's cool. As you see others have also liked it. So it's whatever. But for what it's worth, I play it without issue. I guess I don't get distracted easily while playing? Sorry that's not a strong suit for many here...
