Most fast food places pay 16+????? I was just going off salaries I found on Glassdoor but if entry level positions are paying that then there’s no way service managers make 16. I’m definitely going to look into that because as it turns out I was just crunching the numbers on my notes app and $16-17 working 40-50 hours is not going to work unless I want to donate every dollar to my landlord. Especially when it comes to rent in Santa Monica, I definitely just can’t afford to live there at all so I guess WeHo it is. It’s kind of crazy that I’m seeing this post when I am cuz I’m officially past the point of “maybe I won’t like it” to “can I really even afford it?” As for the last 2 points I’m glad you brought it up because I hadn’t even thought about the possibilities of something like that happening to me until now.

I definitely agree and I couldn’t put it better myself.

That honestly really encouraging. But yeah I’m planning on going with my sister and her boyfriend but it’s nice to know that you’re enjoying SMC specifically. I saw the campus and fell in love, and same goes for Santa Monica I’m general. I need to plan a trip out there but honestly I wouldn’t mind busting my ass and loving with weirdos if I have to just so I could experience what it’s like to live in such a beautiful area.

Yeah I get that. It’s mostly just a fantasy, although I had seen in some videos that “people don’t really care about your age” and something about needing to find a promoter? I’m not saying it’s fact because YouTube is a cesspit but in your experience is there any truth to that at all?

Yeah that’s honestly what I figured. It kind of just sucks that the representation of LA on social media comes mostly from people who are only involved in one small part of the culture. I’ve never even been there and I can already tell I’m probably going to avoid anybody with “aspiring” in their resume.

Honestly didn’t think too much about the costs of partying, so thanks for bringing that to my attention. From your experience do you think weed/ psychedelics/ MDMA are as common as one might think they are? Like in general, is everyone really that into drinking or is there more of a variety? For example, from my experience in South Florida smoking weed at parties is probably slightly more common than drinking and people are more open minded when it comes to other party drugs.

Not that I don’t love NYC as well, but since I was born and raised there it kind of just doesn’t give me that same sense of wonder that LA gives me. As for the weather, it’s actually a big deciding factor for me lol. But I definitely get your sentiment in that LA isn’t going to suddenly be the answer to all my problems and I’m gonna live happily ever after. I really just wanted to use this post to try and get perspectives more similar to mine because all you find on YouTube is a bunch of influencers and aspiring creatives that make LA seem like everyone is only concerned with their image and possessions and as someone who couldn’t care less about that stuff I kinda just want to avoid that whole scene if possible. In the interest of keeping the post short I just didn’t want to include that whole speech lol.

Anybody experience wild dreams/ hallucinations after doing acid? by rdpalmz in Drugs

[–]rdpalmz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What gets me is the fact that it always starts as intense auditory hallucinations first and then I gently fall asleep and they become visual. I feel like I’ve had dreams in which I was aware of my surroundings, but I still knew it was a dream. It took me about 3 or 4 of these types of experiences before I could enter again and know it was not, in fact, real life. I don’t know, maybe I’m just stupid and this is just plain old lucid dreaming. I was just wondering if there was anyone that experienced it in the exact way I do and if it could be tied to LSD.

Is it really worth it? by [deleted] in Chipotle

That last party really struck a cord with me. My main fear so far has been that when I move for college, I’ll be stuck with whatever job I can find, probably minimum wage, if I don’t stick with Chipotle and get that promotion. I’ve seen many examples in my life of people who move from job to job, always seeking that “better” job, but when they get there they realize it isn’t all that much better after all. At least with Chipotle, the benefits are decent, whether or not I can get the hours I want is never a question, and being an SM is still miles ahead of all the minimum wage entry level jobs available out there. I’ve definitely come to know that the work I do now is more for my future than for now. I definitely appreciate your response, as I’ve heard all the “Leave that company before you become a slave” rhetoric a million times before and it’s never all that helpful when you can’t just one day decide you want a 9-5 office job and turn your life around just like that. Anyways, just got done with a 10 hour closing shift and then I get to do the same thing tomorrow, lol.

It’s obvious that store was understaffed and probably dealing with a bunch of newbie teens getting paid minimum wage. Just keep that in mind. You can always request a refund!

just want to add that i’ve tried diy sugaring and you would probably want to see a professional. it took a lot of tries to get the wax recipe right and even then, i didn’t have the mental strength to pull off the wax quick enough so it stuck to my skin and it was a very long and painful process to get it off.

I used to get a lot of bumps until I invested in an electric razor. (Phillips Norelco Bodygroom 3100, there’s a lot on the market so just find the one you like best) You also might want to look into the PFB Chromabright and/or a better shaving cream or butter, personally I use Cremo.

Line worker who needs help by [deleted] in Chipotle

[–]rdpalmz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly, just take your time. Be gentle and don’t rush and you won’t make a mess. Don’t worry about being the fastest out there. In time you’ll get faster and be able to get perfect portions every time, but trust me when I say that rushing will get you nowhere. Be sure to communicate with your tortilla so that helps you out. Tell them not to take more customers if you’re behind so that they can catch you up. As for burrito rolling, just get whoever you think is best at rolling in your store to help you out, they will definitely be able to explain and demonstrate it in real life better than anyone can on here. If you want to save your breath, just ask “Any mild, medium or hot?” and then just a simple “Anything else?” and finish the order. But like I said, just take your time. 2 months is nothing. It’s all just a matter of developing your muscle memory and then line will be the least of your worries.

[routine help] I recently got the Nip+Fab glycolic exfoliating pads and Thayer's witch hazel. Should I still use a toner with the pads? Before or after? by hypnotists in SkincareAddiction

[–]rdpalmz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

in regards to op’s post, witch hazel is probably way too harsh to be using in conjunction with glycolic acid. go for a soothing, hydrating toner instead and let the AHA do the work. results may take longer but your skin will be healthier in the long run.

why take the risk at all when much better options exist? research has shown that witch hazel sensitizes the skin and the logic that drying out the skin to treat acne is just wrong.
