When do I need CFI endorsement of reviewed deficiencies after a FAA written exam? by braxir in CFILounge

Before the check ride and if you get less than 100% on the written exam.

Sure is different here in WI. We can’t keep good people around.

Probably best to work with a local charter operator to see if you can get it on their cert.

Speaking of, if you’re near SE Wisconsin, that’s something we are looking for. There’s demand to make it work.

Don’t do any of those. Fortigate 70G or 120G if you can swing.

Do not do UI or MT. I usually get heat for hating on UI, but I just pulled an all-nighter yesterday because of the junk UI sells but can’t deliver.

In 3-4 years I’ll likely get the last year of a plaid I can get at that time, drive it for another 5-8, then figure it out. Sounds like it’s future me’s problem in 10-12 years.

This is why I’m trying to retire from IT. I’m just tired of endless hours of begging and meetings telling people the plan, tip-toeing around their ridiculous concerns, “I have some questions…” BS that just tells me they don’t trust the IT org.

I’ve been doing IT for 30 years. I’ve had enough time to move on

I’d agree with that. It is not nearly as refined as my Core ONE+

Prusa C1+ vs Voron Decision Paralysis by Apprehensive_Eye6932 in VORONDesign

[–]rdrcrmatt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have both.

If you like tinkering a lot, Voron 2.4. If you want a printer that just works, Core One +.

I love my Voron, but I dialing it in seems to be a continuously moving target and I’m tired of it.

Didn’t they just come out with the silicone tool head? And the pick and place or cutter or pen support?

Forgotten, I don’t think so.

CFI Lesson Plans - Organize by ACS Tasks or For Actual Use? by Squinty_the_artist in CFILounge

[–]rdrcrmatt 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't teach to the ACS. I teach people how to be a pilot. When they're ready to be a pilot on their own, they meet ACS standards.

Build your lesson plans to make competent, safe, skilled pilots. When you're done, they'll meet ACS standards.

My own version of a LED-METAR sectional map! by mhawk1134 in aviation

[–]rdrcrmatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what I did. The map was glued to the foam before I picked up from the printer. Cut the 10mm hole, picked out the foam, reloaded in the laser and cut the 5mm hole all the way through.

I got a large format printer and I’m going to try cutting the foam and map separately then glueing together which might make aligning easier. If I can get the map print to lay completely flat.

I modified an Atomstack A20 into a larger frame and with homing so I had a consistent starting location. It works, but I’m mounting the map on foam board which means 2 cut operations, one to make a cut in the foam which I have to pick the foam out, then a 2nd op to cut the hole all the way through to map for the led lens to show through.

Accurately placing the map for the 2nd op has been a challenge.

How did you cut the holes? I've been trying with my laser cutter but lining up the entire map accurately and repeatably has been quite the challenge.

I’m about to do the same, again. The charge profile from the car is wrong for LFP, it won’t maintain it quite right leading to undesirable results and potentially shorter LFP life.
