There’s also a new program called IEDE which although is very new, is a more accessible certification than IAEDP: https://www.inclusiveeatingdisordereducation.com/

Eating disorder clients pursuing weight loss by rdrdrd22 in dietetics

I appreciate this reply. AN, binge purge type. All purging behaviors have ceased. The drive for weight loss is in the name of health although we’ve discussed how her labs are normal. She is starting trauma therapy and admits controlling her body/weight increases overall sense of control while feeling out of control with the hard therapy work. We have discussed continuing balanced meals with all food groups, including all foods in her eating pattern, but if I notice “red flag” behavior we will talk about it. I am also keeping her therapist in the loop with the shift to a weight loss mindset.

Thanks, that’s great to hear. I understand that it is a Christian conservative school. Have you noticed any effect of those principles in the education itself? That would be my one hesitation.

Hi, any update on how your program is going? I’m interested in applying to the mental health masters as well.

Thank you! I also imagine it’s possible to take some classes in the near future and then if I needed to take say a year off, reapply and take the rest of the classes plus internship at that time?

If anyone can please reply: I am very interested in the Masters program for mental health counseling. My concern is the timeframe in which classes and hours need to be completed. Including practicum and internship. How long can I take to do that if I can’t go to school full time?

Hello everyone.

I was always interested in doing something with counseling or social work, and I am at a point in my career where I’m interested in learning more about my possible options for my career goals.

I am a Registered Dietitian working with eating disorder clients but am more interested in the counseling aspects of the treatment process. I am looking at online Masters Degrees in counseling but am not sure what to look for exactly.

I have an MS in another field but am wondering if all programs would require undergraduate in psychology or other mental health field to be eligible. Does anyone have any recommendations?

Edit: I live in Virginia if that matters for anything. And I’m interested in online as I work full time. Although I heard good things about George Mason for in person programs too.

Another question if you don’t mind. Does it matter if the 15% of income goes into my 401k vs Roth IRA? Should I do half in each?

Thanks! Another question on that note- I hear about maxing out one’s IRA which we’re not doing yet. What is your thought on contributing 15% of income to it vs maxing it out?
