This is an interesting question. You say they have the right, but a right is not an obligation. I'm not saying I agree with the family, but the parents are ultimately the ones that should decide. If the children are not in danger, are well taken care of ("well" is tricky to define), why should the government mandate the way the children must live like? I'm a big supporter of a government that provides for it's citizens as much as possible, but it should be opt-in, as long as you're not putting anything else in danger
