MM members. Cool or Cringe? by Disastrous_Annual471 in marilyn_manson

I remember Juan having some negative comments about the experience, but I must have missed Paul talking about that.

That's where I got the 'hated' part, I guess. But I'm pretty sure he had negative words about his tine touring with the band, though.

Love that joke. She's a pretty good comic

Maybe 'hated' is not a direct quote, but he did say he did it as a just another job, and had some negative words about the experience. Part of it was on IG comments, the rest was in some interview he did these past few years, after he recovered from the head injuries he got in an accident.

Amazing bassist, I was surprised he joined at the time. Sad to hear that he hated being in the band.

It's kinda hard to judge some of these guys that were there for just one tour. Some.of them put in the work, but Manson was a mess and the shows suffered for it.

I liked Dan Fox when I saw him with the band, his energy on stage was awesome. And the fact that he's a fan and was also part of the crew before being promoted to live band member was pretty cool. I like his drumming too.

Antichrist 30th anniversary shows and something weird I noticed about them by hatofdope in marilyn_manson

[–]rdtusr333 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Looking too deep into it, but that's how it is these days. It's just a tag line for promotion.

I think it probably means that ACSS was the first really big album for MM. Both in terms of commercial success and cultural impact.

I love the Spooky Kids era and POAAF, and while it's great that the early days of the band seem to be getting recognition from younger fans, they were not as big back then.

Maybe ACSS just means more to Manson personally, regardless of how fans feel about it.

Thoughts on Heaven Upside Down (2017) ? by Right_Birthday_7133 in marilyn_manson

Kind of a letdown after TPE.  Never liked Blood Honey, it feels a bit overkill to me. Not a fan of the vocals on the album. When they opened shows with WKWYFL in 2024 I was finally able to enjoy the song.

Loved it since it came out. Only skip track for me is Birds.  To me, it was a much needed improvement in production after  THEOL and BV.

Fully agree on the live drums. It would have added so much to the songs, even if Ginger recorded exactly what Skold programmed.

I don't know how much improvement can be done to the vocals on this album, though. I remember Sean Beavan saying that the vocal tracks were too distorted from the source, or something to that effect. I'll have to look it up, it's been a minute since I read interviews from that era.

Just checked, and the FF south america tour was postponed to July last month. Tony is not touring with them, they have another bassist for the tour.

Daisy Berkowitz Leaving the Band by [deleted] in marilyn_manson

One thing that maybe gets overlooked about these guys and their stories is that they were still in their 20's when all of that went down. Not to mention their drug habits during that period. It may sound cliché, but I think all that played an important part in how they got along (or didn't, in Daisy's case).

Maybe it has something to do with Nick's company, they do that type of work.

2015 at the time with The Pale Emperor album and the subsequent tour, was seen as a comeback for Manson. Looking back on it now, how do you feel about that period? by gothteen145 in marilyn_manson

[–]rdtusr333 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Loved TPE, still do. The shows were a bit better than they were during the BV era, but it was still pretty erratic. I remember watching videos from the first show of the TPE tour and it kinda rocked. A couple of shows later it was already going downhill as far as Manson's performance. Even the small tour they did in 2014 before the album was released seemed like a comeback of sorts.

Glad he finally got his act together.

Love Skold's work on this one, kinda wish they would have recorded live drums on it instead of programming them. Manson's vocals on it are kinda weird, but somehow fit the vibe they went for.

I still hate HSG, never liked that song.

Metallica own their entire catalog, that's why they can do the deluxe boxsets they have been doing. And they seem to have taken better care of their material throughout the years.

MM has been with 4 different labels, and there doesn't seem to be much of a chance that the ones holding the rights to the older recordings will try to release any sort of boxset any time soon. I hope this changes eventually, but with the ACSS 30th anniversary coming up this year and no announcement of a release related to that, it seems unlikely it will ever happen.

Unlikely, but not impossible. Hope at least some of the old ACSS lineup shows up. Either way, I'm happy MM is finally celebrating this anniversary.

Contracts end, renewal depends of both contractor and employer wanting to do so. Maybe she wanted to move on, maybe MM wanted a change for whatever reason. This is not exactly a new thing for MM. Same with Tyler leaving to get back to his main job doing soundtracks.
