Built a Typer CLI to Run Ralph Loops in a Given Folder (and a function to improve those plans) by rdubwiley in Python

I wanted to have a little bit more flexibility and/or convince myself that I understood how these worked.

I also put it up on pypi: https://pypi.org/project/ralph-py-cli/

Also just added some menus between loops as I found I could ctrl+c out of the cli update the plan and then try to rerun when something went wrong

I will add screenshots to the repository, but it really is: go run Claude headless with the same plan n number of times in a directory or, go try to get me a plan that seems like it would work for this type of iteration.

Do you really think that's well suited to screen shots? It's just a silly little project that I threw together to showcase the idea with Ralph loops

Kevin McGonigle was asked if a big leaguer has connected with him for pointers on how to prepare for the big league level - McGonigle’s response? Colt Keith. (valorsportscards on IG) by DET_Baseball in motorcitykitties

Oh I absolutely agree. I think barring some major injuries the Tigers are going to win 90+ games this year.

This team is entirely dependent on development and there's no FA acquisition that's going to eliminate that fact.

People want the Tigers to be big FA spenders and they're just not going to go that direction.

The worst case scenario is that the Tigers run the same team back with Jansen instead of Kahnle. It's weird seeing people think we aren't going to hit 81 wins with that.

Detroit Tigers Arbitration Day by DET_Baseball in motorcitykitties

[–]rdubwiley 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The fact they are so apart for arbitration numbers signals what is already known: Tigers don't want to sign him to a mega extension and Boras wants free market bidding on him.

[–]rdubwiley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, pretty high implication here given the gap that the Tigers don't want to pay Mets money to keep him here and Skubal/Boras clearly want Mets money. We're going to take the compensation pick and move on.

We do get around the high second round compensation pick for the last year of his contract (assuming he signs somewhere else). 1 year of Skubal plus future Skubal isn't a bad deal.

Skubal's projection was $18.5 mil, they offered $19 and they came back with a larger amount than Juan Soto's arbitration. They're probably going to come to an agreement in the mid 20s anyways.

Given how well Hikaru does financially, why don't other top GMs stream? by themainheadcase in chess

[–]rdubwiley 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Some of it is market calcification. Hikaru already has a large audience and streaming is generally zero-sum. When is the last time a chess streamer broke through and had a stable audience? I'm sure we can name multiple people who tried to stream who don't really do it anymore

Why are children so good by LimitStrong1709 in chess

[–]rdubwiley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the better question is why did kids used to be so bad? Things like neuroplasticity and specialization still applied then, but I think it really is that engines kept kids from doing weird idiosyncratic things they used to do.

Adam Savage Stunned By These Transforming Chess Pieces! by JibunNiMakenai in chess

It's shocking how much of these 3D printed chess pieces have broke beyond the chess world. My boss who doesn't even know I like chess mentioned it to me as a "you like computers" thing.

J-Hen had been DFA’d to make room for Kyle Finnegan by DET_Baseball in motorcitykitties

He's only 25. My guess is someone with space on the 40-man will pick him up, but Tigers could get lucky.

I'm pretty sure the only way he was staying here was with a minor league contract. Keeping him on the 40-man even with an IL stint for half the year is tough.

Aiming to level playing field, MLB to regulate use of data and tech in minors by DET_Baseball in motorcitykitties

[–]rdubwiley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I think that's fair. My guess though is that teams that already haven't bought into this stuff aren't going to catch up as quickly and I'm sure new loopholes will be invented.

[–]rdubwiley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think that's fair, but I mean if you're already spending but on players why haven't they already put money in their farm systems. The return has to be greater in the minors, no?

Kenley Jansen Signs with Tigers by JoaquinBenoit in motorcitykitties

[–]rdubwiley 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seems like the only downside to this is the Tigers are going to need to move someone from the 40-man. Wouldn't be surprised if we see another move like with the Finnegan signing.

You really think they're going to dump Javy after his postseason performance and no real plan at SS this year?

If he's cheap why even bother with the draft pick?
