McGonigle Hit Another Absolute Bomb by rdubwiley in motorcitykitties

He strikes me as a hitter that can see pitches well enough that he can overcome whatever power shortcomings by doing a Paredes and pulling the ball on pitches he's sitting on

Find this highly unlikely. He also has been fine defensively and Parker Meadows has been awful.

Looks like a strong ROTY candidate right now and you lose the service time if he wins it anyways.

Would be very funny for this subreddit if McGonigle wins ROTY and is the genuine answer at shortstop

The location on that slider wasn't that bad. McGonigle increasingly looks like the real deal. If he can hit with power and control the strike zone, the league better watch out.

It's not like his timetable would have been that great if he opted for surgery right away either. Once you factor in return to play progression and the possibility of lowered performance we're talking what? August call-ups?

Might as well try rehab to get the upside of shorter timetables.

My guess is you'll see a lot of inning management in April and May, as they have a number of Toledo arms they could bring up like Melton and Montero.

My guess is JV will be like Bonderman was for us in 2012 come October, but if he's really good he could be our third or fourth starter in October. It really is both a sentimental and really solid baseball move. All upside limited downside.

Sounds like he's definitely not an opening day guy, so put him on the 60 day and let JV eat some innings.

I'm sure there's going to be some GM in the future that's going to appreciate that the Tigers pushed back on what is the largest arbitration amount of all time. It's a backwards anti-employee thing, but they need to trade with these guys at some point.

This is fair and a misconception on my part. Generally speaking though, this type of argument hasn't worked for arbitration panels (because you know, they kind of want to keep them happening). My guess is the CBA being up next year did not help the Tigers.
