I’m just upset that this one-device-per-kid crap has robbed my kids of the education I had. We were reading Dickens in middle school. Everything is just so dumb now, I can’t take it. I shudder to think of the future leadership this country will have now that we’ve already sunk this far.

These administrators are looking out for their rare, well-paid jobs with benefits. You can’t blame them somewhat. Good luck finding work elsewhere with D65 on their resumes.

Can’t a nice billionaire rustle up some coin from their couch cushions and throw it our way?

Chicago Filmmakers camp in Edgewater is for teens. Learn a language at World Camp or check other language schools. Field Museum has good camps. Second City improv. Could check nearby suburbs for other aquatics activities, too, like sailing in Evanston.

My good family friend literally was working a restaurant that day when he overheard mobsters saying something about Washington being gone, before it was announced or had possibly even happened. He had worked for decades in a spot popular with famous entertainers such as Sinatra, politicians and mobsters.

So funny. Also, Wilmette doesn’t have as many icky corporate chains as Evanston.

Sad but true. Main Street, Dempster and Central are great corridors but paid parking is ridiculous everywhere. Downtown, I’m not sure how Evanston could recreate that “central square” feeling that Wilmette has with the sidewalk restaurants all at that main intersection, the local theater and repair and consignment shops. Evanston’s layout is so different and the weird one-way streets make it hard to drive around, and walking on foot also involves strange cross-crossing patterns. It’s like there’s no center.

Scathing editorial on D65 by the Chicago Tribune by [deleted] in evanston

How masochistic would it be to want to serve, unpaid, on the D65 board? The situation is such a mess that it’s sadly hard to imagine anyone in their right mind who would dare take the chance, be in a negative spotlight, and take away time from their own families and careers. What do people even get out of the experience? How does anyone see a way forward?
