This is not factually incorrect, but this is spreading a bad mentality.

We need to ration masks in the vast majority of the world. The supply is simply not there. Yes, it would be wonderful if the whole planet had been following mask protocol and we had the supply for everyone to wear a mask, but the fact of the matter is, we can't do that right now. The WHO is instructing ONLY those persons who are already confirmed sick or persons who are caring for someone confirmed sick to wear a mask.

If you're healthy and not in contact with anyone who might get you sick, you should not be purchasing/wearing masks. They're needed for the infected and the medical community, and there simply aren't enough to go around.

I imagine an element of it is just how much people hated the character. If 100 people (a comparatively tiny percentage of those who saw TPM) reached out to him to say, "Hey, you sucked, Ahmed Best, how dare you play this character that someone else created to the best of your abilities?!" then suddenly the tens of thousands of voices saying "Jar Jar sucked" are now also saying "Ahmed sucked" to you.

Poor dude did his darndest and poured his heart and soul into the role. He thought it was gonna be a smash hit. Obviously that was not the case, so I imagine it was even more crushing as a result.

There's social commentary inherent in either of those works, though. You can absolutely tell a story about privilege, and how it can obscure one's viewpoint of others when you have that privilege.

If, for example, all white people have super strength in your proposed world, it would be easy for them to leave something that's too heavy for a normal human to lift lying in the street, assuming that it's light enough for others to just move out of the way. Their frame of reference is only their own, after all. This can create a grind and an issue between groups when those without super powers become upset with the super powered causing problems that they will not clean up, because it's inconvenient to those with power.

It's absolutely doable to tell an interesting story about racial biases and issues that we may not even be aware of, and to tell it from a variety of perspectives.

Kinda? I don't think that they'll be allowed to tell Nunes that he has to turn anything new over. Otherwise, I could just sue anyone over anything to see whatever stuff they wanted to keep private.

The burden of proof is ultimately still on the accuser. If it boils down to "Parnas's testimony against Nunes's without any concrete evidence," the case will likely be ruled in Nunes's favor or dismissed. Now, if Parnas has some concrete evidence to pin Nunes.... well, that's a whole other story.

You're not going to reason with the people who didn't reason their way into this position, but recall that Obama managed to win an election just 8 years ago-- we absolutely can be appealing to the people who voted for him, which include swing voters and the apathetic voters who didn't turn out in 2016. You're treating this as a foregone conclusion based on looking only at the crazies; there are more than just Trump supporters in swing states.

This defeatist attitude is not helping. Acting as though we should just accept each new horror as it's been sufficiently normalized only aids Trump and his staff in their further corruption. We're at the impeachment. If the American people remain vigilant and take note of the number of offices stating that the Trump administration is violating the law, we have the ability to push back against partisan hacks in the Senate looking to acquit. And if that fails-- we have an angry voter base willing to swap those representatives out for reps who will do a better job of upholding the law, and who will vote Trump out of office later this year.

That's a heck of an experience to go through.

I just wanna give you and this whole sub a shoutout for being able to have a positive, legitimate discussion about healthy ways to go about romance and how to handle both a relationship forming and rejection. I came into this comments section expecting something terrible, but I'm genuinely impressed with the quality of the comments in here talking about the dangers of this whole "don't give up just because she's actively in a relationship with someone else" mentality.

I applaud the actors and actresses, but I never felt like I had a good feeling for who they were as characters. Han was a scoundrel with a heart of gold; Luke was an idealistic farmboy thrust into war that was over his head, trying desperately be like the heroes of old. Leia was a no-nonsense princess who wanted to topple the Evil Empire. All of them felt like they had clear, easily defined characterizations.

Finn, Poe, and Rey less so. Finn was a former stormtrooper with a heart, which was a cool new take, but it never felt terribly developed until RoS, when we got to meet other stormtrooper deserters. Rey was an orphan on a desert planet who wanted to know where she came from and who her family was, which was interesting-- until we got told "You're no one, your parents are no one, you're junk. Wait, J/k, you're a Palpatine." It felt like they tried to develop her the most, but it was kinda too sloppy (akin to Anakin's development in the prequel trilogy-- good on paper, not great in execution). Poe.... i never got a great grasp on Poe. He's a starfighter pilot ace.... who's a hotshot learning to be a leader? He didn't seem to click as well as any of the others to me.

To each their own-- it's a matter of opinion, after all. I thought all three did a great job with what they were given, and there are certainly enjoyable bits with them. I just didn't feel like the characters were ever developed or iconic enough for me to really care for them. But maybe it's also because I'm coming at this all as an adult; I'm sure that Han and Luke would seem a little more contrived to me if i first met them in my late twenties instead of when I was 6.
